DMP Mutual Support Thread - Part 7

Hi all,
I am in the early stages of a DMP I am doing myself (with National Debtline letters mainly) and there have been a few stumbling blocks so far! Opened my post today and was so pleased that Metropolitan Collections have accepted my payment offer for HSBC overdraft I owe, after all the threats HSBC made... :j
Anyhow, another 2 letters have presented problems today. Firstly, a letter from HSBC regarding my credit card. They say they cannot respond to my letters without them being signed. I have not signed any of my letters after seeing advice on the DFW board regarding this, so they can't be naughty and use my signature without my permission. Should I sign my letters to HSBC then? Will that make things worse?
Mind you, the main issue today comes from another letter. HFC have sent a letter (have a loan with them) in response to my payment offer, asking for proof of income. Now, I know this might sound a little bit dishonest, but the income I declared on my income/expenditure sheet is not what shows on my payslips. I do a bit of overtime at work and have not declared this as income as it is not guaranteed or the same amount month to month. So, if I send them my last 3 payslips as they ask, it will look like I have lied! I just kind of wanted to have that little bit of overtime money as my own extra for myself, and as I say, can't guarantee I will keep getting it.
So, what should I do? If I ignore the letter and keep sending monthly payments, will they eventually just accept them? The payments I am making now aren't far off what I was paying before this all started! Or send copies of my payslips...then maybe they will demand more money off me? I would really appreciate advice from you lovely knowledgeable folks!
Thanks so much0 -

Hi Rubytuesday
As far as HSBC goes, I had overdrafts, a loan and a credit card with them. They tried all kinds of tactics with me including asking for my signature but I stood my ground and ignored them. They did eventually pass all of the debts to Metropolitan who have accepted all reduced payments without question.
I'm sure someone a bit more knowledegable will be along to advise re sending payslips to HFC but my gut instinct for what it's worth would be not to.

Hi, sorry haven't been on here for a while, what with Christmas and getting the dreaded flu, still suffering but decided to have a little look at what everyones been getting up too so far.
I also had a question I hoped some of you more experienced DMP'ers may be able to help with.........
We have received confirmation from some of our creditors confirming that they have accepted our repayment plan from CCCS, but they dont advise whether they have stopped interest etc. so I'm assuming at this point they haven't. If this is the case what is the best way to tackle asking if they will consider stopping interest? does anyone have any good templates that have worked for them, if so I'd love to have a go at sending something to the creditors, or should I at this point be asking CCCS, dont want to jump the gun!
Our first payment went to creditors on 1st Jan so we're still getting letters back confirming their intentions. Strangely, out of 12 creditors, all four of mine have still to respond, yet my OH has the same creditors in some cases and all of his have confirmed back....... I find it totally bizarre!!
Look forward to hearing all your fantastic expertise on this scary DMP train!!;)0 -

It's up to you but it is early days! CCCS should negotiate with the creditors to stop interest, obv this may not always happen. Think most of my creditors stopped interest pretty sharpish, the only ones that didn't were two overdrafts, and a small finance plan through HFC, who couldn't understand why I couldn't pay them the £75 to pay the whole debt off! They all stopped after around 6 months.
If they've actually sent a letter saying they've accepted, then it may well be that they've stopped interest.
If you do want to go ahead, there's plenty of letters on nationaldebtline you can use.DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

If your budget is calculated correctly then you can be creative with the left overs and live a not too bad existence - not much help I am sure but hopefully it will encourage you to re-visit things.
Sorry to be a complete party-pooper (ignore me please any newbies, I'm having a black 'DMP down' moment) but my budget doesn't leave me 'more than just to survive on.' It leaves me a bit fat zero.
All my utilitity bills/expenses are pared to the bone, and because there is only my low income in the pot, my DMP repayment is not huge - but it's every penny I've got, with no 'left-overs' to squeeze out.
I have no 'entertainment budget' whatsoever. At my last review even the lovely CCCS lady was suprised at how I managed on such a frugal budget, and suggested I might revise my living costs.
But I got me in this mess and I want to get me out again. I'm determined not to decrease my DMP payment, though the rising cost of food/ fuel etc fills me with horror.
Apologies for sounding off......
And I thank you all for letting this be a 'safe' place to do so! :T
I'm sure my black moment will pass soon, but in the meantime I'm off for a rummage to see if there is anything to E-Bay

The min payment in this case is just what you owe Opus in outstanding payments. Are you still giving them payments every month?DMP mutual support thread No: 2430 -

Maybe so, yes. But I'm only paying back £85-00 per month against a £15,000 debt. And because I'm a not a young person, I'm still going to be paying this back whilst trying to live on a basic state pension
As I said I got me here, I'll get me out, but just now having a 'down' time
Will wallow in self-misery for a while but hopefully come back out fighting!
