Maybe so, yes. But I'm only paying back £85-00 per month against a £15,000 debt. And because I'm a not a young person, I'm still going to be paying this back whilst trying to live on a basic state pension
As I said I got me here, I'll get me out, but just now having a 'down' time
Will wallow in self-misery for a while but hopefully come back out fighting!

I felt a bit bad after I wrote that. Just looked at my budget and there's nothing in there for entertainment! Guess it all comes out of the household budget now. I wasn't having a go, just that the DMP budget is there to enable you to try and lead a normal life!

Hope you come out of the darkness soon, I don't like you down there cos you're normally so sunny!

Come on wee woman!! Where would we all be on here without you?
If you can't sound off here, then we are all letting you (and each other) down. It's rotten that you are having a bad time. But everyone of us here knows exactly how you are feeling, that's the difference.
I'm telling you, if anyone really deserves a break, (especially a lottery win!) then it's our Twitty.:T

Personally I don't see the point in playing the lottery if your going to come out with such nonsense if you are lucky enough to win.

Hope your feeling happier soon twitty x
  • :grouphug:Dodgy Group hug for Twitty. Hope you feel brighter soon.

Sorry to be a complete party-pooper (ignore me please any newbies, I'm having a black 'DMP down' moment) but my budget doesn't leave me 'more than just to survive on.' It leaves me a bit fat zero.
All my utilitity bills/expenses are pared to the bone, and because there is only my low income in the pot, my DMP repayment is not huge - but it's every penny I've got, with no 'left-overs' to squeeze out.
I have no 'entertainment budget' whatsoever. At my last review even the lovely CCCS lady was suprised at how I managed on such a frugal budget, and suggested I might revise my living costs.
But I got me in this mess and I want to get me out again. I'm determined not to decrease my DMP payment, though the rising cost of food/ fuel etc fills me with horror.
    Apologies for sounding off...... :o
And I thank you all for letting this be a 'safe' place to do so! :T
I'm sure my black moment will pass soon, but in the meantime I'm off for a rummage to see if there is anything to E-Bay :)

damn that is tough - I went down the DMP route as I have enough disposable income after priority debts for me to service the DMP - I am lucky in that I have a good income! - Sorry if I sounded condescending in my comments! - I do think it is important for DMPers that they are realistic with their DMPs as this helps safe guard them and their sanity in the future.

I also understand that the the other routes available are not always suitable or preferable so stick in there and sorry if I seemed a bit harsh.

Keep your chin up Twitty!! I tend to lurk here mostly with the odd post, but you are an integral part of this thread, and supportive to many more of us than you probably realise!!
If you wanna moan, you moan. That's part of what the thread is about... we all have different circumstances and different priorities, there is no 'one size fits all' in life! :)

Hello - sorry you're having a yuck moment - we all have them every now and then don't we? Where you wonder if you are doing the right thing? Just a thought - it sounds as if you are really throwing absolutely everything you can at your DMP and it's leaving you stuggling a bit. As your debt is £15,000 have you considered a DRO? I know some people feel that a DRO isn't honourable as it writes your debt off (I believe?) but in your case no one could accuse you of not having tried your hardest?

I don't know the ins and outs of a DRO but may be worth looking into? I know you can't have much disposable income to qualify.

Anyway - hope things work out - and I'll be praying to the lottery fairies for you (and me!!!).

  • Morning, up with the larks this morning as my girl cat was playing up so got up so DH could try and get a bit more sleep...

Got a statement from one debtor on Sat which shows reduced interest, thought they'd agreed to stop this but most of others are playing more than fair..made 4th payment on DMP so only another goodness knows how many more to go...
  • Hi all,

I am in the early stages of a DMP I am doing myself (with National Debtline letters mainly) and there have been a few stumbling blocks so far! Opened my post today and was so pleased that Metropolitan Collections have accepted my payment offer for HSBC overdraft I owe, after all the threats HSBC made... :j

Anyhow, another 2 letters have presented problems today. Firstly, a letter from HSBC regarding my credit card. They say they cannot respond to my letters without them being signed. I have not signed any of my letters after seeing advice on the DFW board regarding this, so they can't be naughty and use my signature without my permission. Should I sign my letters to HSBC then? Will that make things worse?

Mind you, the main issue today comes from another letter. HFC have sent a letter (have a loan with them) in response to my payment offer, asking for proof of income. Now, I know this might sound a little bit dishonest, but the income I declared on my income/expenditure sheet is not what shows on my payslips. I do a bit of overtime at work and have not declared this as income as it is not guaranteed or the same amount month to month. So, if I send them my last 3 payslips as they ask, it will look like I have lied! I just kind of wanted to have that little bit of overtime money as my own extra for myself, and as I say, can't guarantee I will keep getting it.

So, what should I do? If I ignore the letter and keep sending monthly payments, will they eventually just accept them? The payments I am making now aren't far off what I was paying before this all started! Or send copies of my payslips...then maybe they will demand more money off me? I would really appreciate advice from you lovely knowledgeable folks!

    Thanks so much :)
Hi,,I also manage my own DMP using National Debt Line and there Cashflow process. This produces a financial statement that should be accepted by all major lenders. So when I was asked for proof of earnings I always send the financial statement with a letter explaining what it is and this has always been accepted. I think the proof of earnings letters are more of those computer generated ones and you do not have to supply everything they ask for.
