The thread that was removed (Sub Prime Credit Card) is now back up and running. It was closed down temporarily because people clicked the spam button as well as the abuse button.

    Good that it's back. :)

    What thread?

No threads/posts are ever removed in such a way that they cannot be restored if needed.

    Sorry Fermi,

Think I misunderstood the technical ability of MSE! Which is probably a reflection on my own IT housekeeping ability - deleting stuff that I don't mean to!

I meant that if it got deleted could it be retrieved? Obviously, it can.

Did someone not say that the unenforcability thread had been removed?
Or have I picked that up incorrectly?

    For the record though................

Things can be deleted in 2 ways.

    1) "Soft delete" = Threads/posts are removed so that they are no longer viewable by normal users. The posts are still in the forum database however, and can be restored.

    2) "Hard delete" = The post and data are permanently removed from the database/server, and cannot be restored.

Option (1) is the only one ever used here.

    Thak Fermi,

    That's very reassuring!

It's just as well now we have the "spam" button.

Quite a few threads have gone MIA due to a "wrong click".

Luckily the MSE admins can bring them back if that happens.

I've really got to go now and carry on sorting out my new 'office'. I've still loads of stuff from uni which I need to sort through and file/throw away/books to put on ebay. The same with the mountains of resources I've got.

    Have a good day.

Just noticed I've got my 'sherriff's medal' (as SW called it) When did that happen?
