I'm not usually a poster on this thread or Niddys, but have been reading today. I'm sorry to hear about your friend, he sounds like a very lovely person. I do hope he comes back, these trolls should not win. Everyone on here posts for a reason, trolls however, what is their motivation? I mean given the choice of being out with your friends and enjoying life or sitting at a grimey computer in your smalls (this is how i imagine them) randomly abusing lovely people, which is it to be? They clearly have no friends, are over opinionated and love the sound of their own voice (well they have to really, no one else would appreciate it). No thought goes into their postings. Sad, sad individuals. It always amazes me too when abusers resort to calling their victims names like 'thick'. We might call into question their intelligence given the nature of their post, they clearly don't think before they speak.
Well I hope Niddy is back soon, and that you all have a lovely day. We are all amazing and should wake up every morning thanking our lucky stars that we are not trolls. May the war to keep our money in our own pockets long continue.
xx
The simple answer is that they don't have friend, family or a life and are very angry, broken people. They are to be pitied in their own way. If they need to do this to gain attention and/or enjoyment think how awful their life must be.0 -

Sw - i can't see anything of your post #3717 except for lots of little red crosses. Is it just me?0

What MSE needs like on a lot of other forums, until you hit 5 - 10 posts your posts have to get reviewed by a moderator before they can be seen by everyone else.
This prevents a lot of trolls from attacking I moderate a lot of cooking forums and this is what we do.0 -
That's a good idea Jen. It would work with trolls like the imposter last night but then you get posters like Woody01 and Wrangler5 who, although they have made quite a lot of posts, then throw in the occassional abusive comment.
Edit - just looked back through some of Woody01's posts and they are all snide and nasty in some way. The only difference between the troll last night and Woody01 and Wrangler5 seems to be that the troll just flooded the threads with abusive posts but the others do it more sneekily and insidiously. Woody01 has 1690 posts and Wrangler 5 3660 -

surely they will be nice for 5-10 posts then become abusive? Maybe they need to actually ban registration from free domains, such as Live/Hotmail/Yahoo and only accept email addresses from known ISP's such as BTInternet/AOL because these would leave more of an audit trail in identifying abuse. some ISP's only give a few sub accounts which must restrict them being able to re-register time again.
My twopennys worth.
ACtually Gmail and hotmail take trolling a lot more seriously... I mean if you report back to them direct with an email address taht has been abusive they delete their account and prevent their IP from signing up to anymore. I know we report LOADS to Gmail on another forum I work at.
Also, 5-10 posts is a lot of work for someone. remember all the posts have to be apporoved before they are a member sometimes we keep people at a Jr status for 20-30 posts just to see if they are genuine. Its a probation thing.
Cyber Bullying isn't nice and all though NID decided to leave on his own regards *(partially)* I do feel that MSE is full of cyber bullying and this needs to be stopped.
MSE is here to NOT judge and NOT to put others down for their situation and this is what is happening. Obviously there isn't enough people working the night time shift to notice this going on and maybe thats what needs to happen.0
