Loving it thanks G&S - a couple of problems have happened - needed a new clutch (but some canny shopping kept the costs down), glow plugs died and drivers window popped out (easily sorted with a mate).
Nothing I wouldn't expect from a 100K plus motor.
NFU have been great - understand about voluntary work and kept my costs low0 -

My mate had his replaced about 12 months ago and they've all been replaced again last couple of weeks, i'd guess the garage didn't use Beru's first time around.
Glad it's going well.0 -
And there was I cheering you on until you got to this bit!! :eek:Harry_Flashman wrote: »Excellent towing ability - encouraging me to look for a caravan0

I did, I'm afraid
So much more comfort than the tent0 -
my dad has a l300. mitsibushi are definetly underated, the only problem is trying to find spares if something goes wrong, usually end up having to go to the mitsibushi branch and they order them from japan0

I'd recommend Milners as a first port of call for any parts on a Jap motor.0

It's a far stronger design than most (having a solid and seperate chassis) so the other motor would come off far worse.
You are kidding yeh:rotfl: they are not as safe as you may believe they can turn over in a collision, i would much rather be in something with a crumple zone, the solid chassis transfers the impact to the occupants rather than a crumple zone as they just dont have one,
did you not see the crash 5th gear did with a 4x4 against a car you wouldnt believe which one came of worst it sure made me think.3. Not had any abuse from hippies yet - just hope they ctach me in a bad mood when they try it though4. They seem to hold their value as well as most 4x4s and again, better than some.0 -

Yes I did and I'm pretty sure the motor used wasn't an L200. I know about crumple zones, etc, but the chassis takes the impact underneath the passenger compartment. Chances are any car hitting mine will go under it anyway.0 -

no it wasnt an l200 but has the same solid chassis which transfers impact to passenger compartment,
and if it does go under it as you say then that is when risk of fliping over occurs;)
i bought a diahatsu fourtrack that had been hit by a postvan, the damage didnt look to bad untill it was stiped of its panels which revealed the chassis had bent, this rendered it unrepairable so was scraped, they may look strong but are easily written off.0 -
I hear what you say mate.
But (from memory admittedly), weren't both motors pretty much destroyed? I certainly feel safer for my passengers and myself in a bigger, higher and stronger motor than in a eurobox. Above a certain speed, an impact is likely to kill the occupants anyway.0
