Mercedes Benz Financial Services - End of lease charges

Smart (MBF) then bill me for about £700 for two scratches and missing service history.0
-
Perhaps,
I'll argue the case either way, I think charging £400+ for a missed service is disproportionate to state of the vehicle, especially when I was still way under the allotted mileage allowance and it passed the MOT the day before it was due to be returned. And that's the point I'm trying to make and I think others on here are too.
Whatever happens, I'll repost the consequences.
There's a timely article in the current issue of Auto Express in which they discuss the devaluation of cars caused by a missing/incomplete service history. For premium cars it was from £700 upwards and indeed some dealers would knock a couple of grand off.
Even an Astra would lose £600, so maybe £400 for a missing Smart service history is reasonable? The man without a signature.0 -

copy of letter sent to my merc salesperson .........
I am writing this email to formally complain about Mercedes benz finance and their underhand tactics at reclaiming so called “outwith agreed terms” marks.( Dan Veecher defleet manager MBF)
My company returned a C 220 sport SP09MXZ the day before you supplied our new E220 end March 2011.
As it happens the car was vandalised 3 weeks before return and an insurance claim made and car was duly sent to Buchan Automotive paint for repair and return to my office the day of return. This was duly done, the fresh car returned immaculate at 8.30am and picked up at 10.00am
We have since had a demand from MBF for paint damage to the value if £1500 with grainy photos of variour parts of body and two supposed “bulges in tyres” checked by quick fit!?
As an established small company using Premium cars for fleet use we pride our treatment of cars , regularly servicing and replacing items needing attention tyres etc.
We have responded to MBF and the paint specialist is responding with pictures he has taken prior to delivery back to us and we await MBF reply
We will be taking legal advice and will happily meet MBF in court over this as again after returning cars to them they always pile a large damage claim on us every time and it now gets so bad that we are considering not using mercedes benz cars as our preferred maker due to the bullying tactics of their finance department.
We also have heard this is common practice with MBF and the industy as a whole but we have now had enough.
Can you pass this onto someone who cares in Mercedes as i will be passing onto the auto motive journals for their comments
Regards

Not liking the look of this thread, I have a 1.5 year old smart, due back in 6 months.
Its immaculate at the moment but the stories above are worrying...
Just wanted to add though, all of the people who complain about Mercedes doing this stuff and then saying "I have paid up now though because <insert excuse here>" need to grow a backbone.... letting these idiots get away with doing this is just going to encourage them more and more to try it on... if 50% of people just pay up to avoid a fight then its well worth them trying it on....A big believer in karma, you get what you give :A

No need to worry. The key here is to take a hundred or so pictures and to video it in detail the day before hand back. When the guy comes to collect it and does the inspection video that too. Write on the form: I have take 101 pictures to confirm the condition of the vehicle 6 hours before hand over. In addition I have videoed the vehicle and videoed the handover. The man without a signature.0 -

Having just collected my new Smart I told the dealer how concerned I was about all I had been reading. They said they have taken on several cases where cars had been handed back that were immaculate and letters arrived saying pay up.
They echoed as what said on here to do. Take pictures, lots of them! I told the dealer in 3 years time I would be arranging for the inspection to take place with me, and someone from the garage to be present.
They confirmed the balloon figures have been way out on Mercs and Smarts on hand-backs. Hence why they think this is happening.
They also told me they can charge up to £1000 if I don't service it through a Smart dealership!
By the way Lifes Grand Plan, I pulled out of buying from Wolverhampton long story, if you search my posts you might see why!
Coventry is where I ended up getting mine, picked it up Saturday. White red interior passion, DLR's, £155 a month for 3 years its lovely!0 -

Aah, that post now makes sense. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0
