Mercedes Benz Financial Services - End of lease charges

Hi everyone, thought I would share our experience re returning a Mercedes Lease Vehicle.
We received an invoice for over £2000 for the vehicle when we returned it. This is in spite of the fact that the car was sent back in immaculate condition, (had 2 independent body work experts look it over before returning it as we had heard what a nightmare MB were).
Turns out that a repair we had done last year when the car was hit by an unknown vehicle when parked on the road, was considered to be poor, because it wasn't fixed by MB. (The insurance company chose their own repairer).
Wrote to mercedes told em we weren't paying as what they said and the photos they produced were inconclusive. they wrote back and said we still owed it. Well after several phone calls and a couple of letters we asked the repair garage to get involved. They wanted to view the car and have an independent inspection on it. MB said they couldn't do that as it had already been sold, and no, the repairs had not been done prior to sale. Never heard back from MB since.
So my advice to anyone who gets an unexpected bill, ask for an independent inspection on the vehicle. Chances are they have already sold it by the time you get the bill.
what is the lease T&C with regard to repairs?0 -

This is quite a brilliant scam by MBUK. Claim for spurious damage, supply photos and insist on the claimed damage, meanwhile the car has never been repaired and sold.
Seriously. How many franchised Mercedes UK dealerships have their own bodyshop? I bet it's in the low low teens. 99% of bodywork is farmed out to independents anyway. The man without a signature.0 -
Didn't you read the part where he said the car was in excellent condition?
Did you not read the myriad of posts he submitted, on other threads, where there were dents and scratches on the car.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

No, I have only seen this thread, and since there were no links to other threads why should I be searching around?
Perhaps if you had made reference to these other threads in your post it would have made matters clearer. Surely that wouldn't be too difficult for you."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

These posts were made sometime ago and were spread across several threads. At the time, there was no need to provide links. Perhaps I should have had the foresight to think that Trebor16 might require them, so in future, I will reference all cross-thread posts, in the expectation that you might read them and find them useful. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Perhaps you need to realise that the vast majority of people don't read every single thread in this forum, so won't be aware of other posts in other threads. Most posters here are not as anal and nit picking and almost hostile towards other posters as you, thank goodness."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

Riiiiight, so.....Didn't you read the part where he said the car was in excellent condition
.....was warm and freindly, covered in a feather duvet and topped with whipped cream and choclate, was it?The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
That was a fair question. If I had said "are you stupid, didn't you read where he said the car was in excellent condition?" then you might have been able to take exception to it.
It was no different in tone to "Why didn't you get the car repaired yourself? "
It is clear that you like to dish it out to other posters and make smart assed comments that don't actually contribute much at all, but when people respond and challenge you in a legitimate manner you get all upset."You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"
