Why didn't you get the car serviced as per the schedule? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0

Couldn't afford it at the time and my milage was less than 14k at the time.
My own fault, but really didn't see the need when I was doing 5.5k/year.0 -
Oh gosh, I said yes to a Smart garage this afternoon to take out a 3 year lease on a new Smart.
I've just pulled out of one purchase with another dealer due to their dodgy practices of amending V5's.0 -

In which case I can't see where your problem is. You didn't maintain your part of the contract and have to pay for the consequences. Your false economy has returned to haunt you. You have no choice but to pay up.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
Perhaps,
I'll argue the case either way, I think charging £400+ for a missed service is disproportionate to state of the vehicle, especially when I was still way under the allotted mileage allowance and it passed the MOT the day before it was due to be returned. And that's the point I'm trying to make and I think others on here are too.
Whatever happens, I'll repost the consequences.0 -

Follow the advice posted in this thread such as vehicle inspection prior to handover at the end of the 3 years and you should be ok. Just make sure you're covered with pics etc.0 -

I think four hundred pounds is quite reasonable for a missed service. If you take into account a potential drop in value for missing a service and having to carry out the service you should have had done. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I think you are really pushing it and as said before I think you have escaped lightly.0

Hi everyone, thought I would share our experience re returning a Mercedes Lease Vehicle.
We received an invoice for over £2000 for the vehicle when we returned it. This is in spite of the fact that the car was sent back in immaculate condition, (had 2 independent body work experts look it over before returning it as we had heard what a nightmare MB were).
Turns out that a repair we had done last year when the car was hit by an unknown vehicle when parked on the road, was considered to be poor, because it wasn't fixed by MB. (The insurance company chose their own repairer).
Wrote to mercedes told em we weren't paying as what they said and the photos they produced were inconclusive. they wrote back and said we still owed it. Well after several phone calls and a couple of letters we asked the repair garage to get involved. They wanted to view the car and have an independent inspection on it. MB said they couldn't do that as it had already been sold, and no, the repairs had not been done prior to sale. Never heard back from MB since.
So my advice to anyone who gets an unexpected bill, ask for an independent inspection on the vehicle. Chances are they have already sold it by the time you get the bill.0
