yep if you buy new diesels can be expensive but I bought a 1 year old jetta for 10K so it depends on how much you manage to get the car for.0

Before doing this, have you considered the current premium on diesel car prices and compared that to how much fuel you are likely to save during the time you own the car.
This is particularly important if you mostly do short trips and/or urban driving.

Nearly new?
A few years old?
Trad diesel?
These cars are evolving rapidly, good today = crap tommorrow, or by the time you read this, yesterday,:eek::eek:
Would love a new one, but way out of my league. It would ideally have four doors rather than 2, be medium sort of size (not as small as a Ford KA) and it doesnt necessarily have to be diesel, just good on fuel consumption. My friend has a Fabia and does 60 miles to £30.00 of fuel. Much better than my car. I dont really need such a big car as a Mondeo. I literally just nip the kids up to school and then off to work which is 5 miles away.Matched betting proceeds so far: £505.000 -
Basically you want a cheap 5dr Ford then??:A Luke 6:38 :AThe above post is either from personal experience or is my opinion based on the person God has made me and the way I understand things. Please don't be offended if that opinion differs from yours, but feel free to click the 'Thanks' button if it's at all helpful!0

I have a Megane estate. 55plate.

Both 106bhp 6 speed cars.
Up to 70mpg
Never less than 50
More space than you seam to need

Plus, shmbo's last car was a diesel Clio, kept for 5 years, and that bettered those figures by 10mpg on average.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

You can't beat a Citroen C3 diesel for value, 67 mpg, road tax £35 and 20,000 miles service.0
