Okay, so I made it on Sunday, it's now Tuesday, can I open all the jars, whack it all into a pan, bring it back up to boil, add some lemon juice, and try to see if it will set?
If I can get a set, can I then re-sterilise all the jars and pour it back into the jars again?
I don't know if there is a time-limit on how long you have to rectify a problem...0 -

Yes you can - with all that sugar in it, it'll keep for months

back into the saucepan, up to the boil and add a bottle of certo. i made some rose hip and apple jelly last week and had to boil it so much to reach set point that i lost half my yield. and it still was a very soft set. certo next time for me too. could have had another three jars out of it. and whenever i make strawberry jam, i always use certo. the people who make certo have a label on the bottle that you send away for their own recipe book for jam making. free of course and its very good.0

Hello
I made apple jam at the weekend - but didn't follow any particular recipe apart from the general one I'd used for previous yummy ones, anyway its too sweet (obviously the apples). It's all nicely set - can I get it out the jars, add more apples and redo it as it were?
Thanks0 -
How much fruit do you need to make jam ? I've never tried this before. We have small holdings 25 miles away who sell PYO straws and this year I fancied trying jam...:D

made strawberry jam at weekend with DD - we had 600g of strawberries and it made 3 jars. We would have had more fruit but we'd eaten loads!weaving through the chaos...0

How much do you get in a normal punnet Phizz ?0
-
we used plastic punnets and I think...they were 500g ones...but I'm really useless with measurements so that may be wrong. they also had larger cardboard ones and think they were 2 kg. they had a sign up at the PYO place saying how much the punnets held so it's worth checking before you start! especially if you're like me and spacially challenged...:oweaving through the chaos...0

The amount per punnet will depend on where you buy them and the size of the punnet but I buy them locally in punnets weighing 450g. I won't need to soon though because mine are just about ready! :j
When making jam I add the same amount of sugar as I do fruit.
Have you had a look through the The Complete Jam, Chutney and other Preserves collection
There's an earlier thread that should help so I'll add your thread to it to keep the suggestions together.
