Splitting the bill with friends

Gosh, I still remember going out with friends years ago as it was someone's birthday - one of the girls bought along her new boyfriend, who ate with the rest of us, but flat-out refused to pay *anything* towards the bill at the end of the meal, making everyone else pay extra to cover him. I was absolutely furious, and stopped hanging out with that group of "friends" not long afterwards, partly because they didn't seem overly bothered by their behavior.
More recently, I said I'd treat a friend to lunch - a local restaurant was doing a deal of 3 courses for £6, which was great. When we got there, however, we were informed we were too late for that set menu. The other items weren't horrendously expensive, but they weren't cheap. Still, I couldn't say to friend I'd changed my mind...anyhow, she went ahead and ordered a big bowl of soup (cost about £6), took one sip and declared she didn't like it. To say I was fuming was an understatement. Managed to get the waitress to put it into a doggy-bag and gave it to another friend so it didn't go to waste.
Another time, same friend and I were eating - were meant to split the bill, but neither of us had any change, so I said I'd put it on my card and she could pay next time (this is standard practice with a lot of my other friends)...needless to say she's never offered to pay me back, and whenever we do go out for a meal (which is very rarely now) I am still the one that ends up paying for both of us, as she's constantly broke.0 -
            £18.50 per family - thats 6 x 2 + 5 x 2 = £22 less the 3.5 discount = £18.50
£12.00 for couple
£18.50 x 2 = £30 + £12 = £49
If you want to add on the booking fee = £19.15 per family and £12.65 per couple = £50.95
Think that's right anyhow -
LOL sorry but I'm not doing the phone call charge to
 hehe enjoy your day

Yes, but if he is that much a pain in the rear that you have to post on a public forum for help, is he worth it?LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012
