Splitting the bill with friends

I think I'll tell each family its £20 for their lot that way they have still saved a couple of quid each. now why didn't I think of that before

People like that should be avoided like the plague and not socialised with. It's just too stressful trying to catch up with their horrible games. And also very, very insulting!
A friend-of-a-friend, who I hadn't met before but who was renowned for her tightness, came out for a birthday dinner to a Chinese restaurant. She didn't order a starter because she "wasn't that hungry", spent most of the meal asking others for a little taste of whatever it was that they'd ordered and then when the bill came got out her calculator and paid exactly what she'd ordered TO THE PENNY. I wanted to punch her lights out, of course. Everyone else knew it was coming...0 -

Maybe they have debts?0 -
I would charge each family £20 (saves £2 on the individual prices for each family) - and then the 2 adults the remaining £11.95 (actual price - 5p, which can be argued in terms of your time to do the booking!)
Surely he wouldn't expect you & OH to pay more than the cost of 2 adult tickets, yet you wouldn't want to deny the savings to the families when it's because the kids are going that you are all getting the deal
If you & OH are not willing to pay your fair share, that's a different problem ...0 -

I had an ex friend exactly like that!! That is why she is an ex friend! She never ever bought a drink for anyone, never mind a round of drinks, went every where in my car, and never offered petrol money ( she was working and got a good pay, I was on a very low wage) If we ever went out for a meal, she would calculate it down to the last penny. The final straw was when she invited herself (and her kids)along to a family outing, ate all our picnic and never offered to buy as much as an icecream. I still see her occasionally, but never when it is going to cost me money!! My pet hate is tight, mean people.

Why do you keep going out with this person? Is there a reason why you can't avoid them socially?LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012
