question about a Renault Scenic

just changed the water pump on my scenic 2000 16v now the cam's have moved as well as the bottom crank shaft pully...can you help with re-timing please.! need to know were the marks are on the pully's if any ...

    i do hope you have a new cam belt kit for it as well
    there are no timing marks on this engine you need to remove a small bolt (torx head) on the engine block and fit a timing pin then remove 2 coreplugs on the end of the clylinder head and insert a tool (like a flat bar) this will then lock the engine in place failure to do so can wreck the engine.
    special timing tools are avalible to buy from unipart or ebay circa £150 or cheap way use a 6mm drill bit to lock the crank shaft and find a flat bar to lock the cam shafts. if in doubt may be worth buying a haynes manual.

    If your remove a spark plugs. Stick a long screwdriver in the hole of which ever in the cylinder that give you TDC. Then turn the engine over by hand until the screw driver reaches it's highest point.

    that will find tdc ok but the hardest part is aligning the cam shafts
    hence the reason the engine needs locking otherwise as you tension the belt it will all move slightly
