Would not say it is isolated, in September I think we went down to 4 other vans midweek in Springwell and that is about as empty as we have found it.
The sites are a bit out of the way, but we normally are looking to get away from it anyway!DJWW - cos we won't let it!0 -
nice thread bobs. surprised it took until post 30 of moneysavers to get to touring in the trees. we used it in 2009 and loved it. we like to walk and the forests are handy for that. plus if we're away all day why pay for fancy services. many of the sites are often empty and the limited time rule is not strictly enforced. but others like springwell and gosford are very busy. some of them are near the formal forestry campsites and we never had trouble using showers etc. be warned though the permits are taken up early in the year. i looked last May and by then there were no more available for 2010. http://www.dardni.gov.uk/forestservice/index/publications/forest-leisure/touring-in-the-trees-caravan-sites-booklet.htm
Yet you seem content to use the showers and facilities for nothing that people on the normal forestry campsites pay for! People like you annoy me!0 -
Love Ballyness, We only live 10 mile down the road but will book in for a night or two midweek just for the break from the house and family0

we do pay for the permit and i've found nothing in the rules that says you can't use other forestry provided facilities nearby. no signs in those facilities either saying you have to be from that site only, no keypad no lock etc. and we do ask an attendant if there is one. people like you who jump to conclusions annoy me.0 -

I'm a tenter, but I haven't got away yet either. Next weekend I'm planning a trip to Fermanagh - I can camp at this time of year as long as I have EHU. Thanks for the link....0
