Caravanning in Northern Ireland

Thought I would start this thread so we can all share where we like to caravan. There must be plenty of us on here ???

Anyway - we are new to caravanning and have only been to Benone which I can highly recommend. Good for walking and cycling and on a good day (in my opinion) beats a foreign holiday hands down!
Have stayed on both council site and Deighans site - both are good and very clean and tidy. Only off putting think on tourist site is that they ask you to be off site at 12 noon on day of departure which can cut a weekend break short...
On the other hand Deighan's site are very happy to let you stay on and make the most of your weekend.

Hope there are some more caravanners who would be happy to share their favourite caravan sites on here. There are plenty of forums that have sites in England/Wales/Scotland but cant find any for this site of the water. :)

Lovely site for tourer but limited to about 25 or so pitches some of which are booked up for the year/season so probably more like under 20. usually always full at weekends so book well in advance (Particularly for bank holiday weekends.... months in advance if not the previous year !!)

By far the best touring site I've stayed in in the area. Horseshoe shaped touring site with small park in the middle so kids love it....
Bigger park around the corner in the Static site for the older kids..

We regularly use a beautiful quiet site with good clean facilities.

I'm not saying where as I would like it to stay that way!!!:silenced:

Stayed at Windsor Caravan Site, Newcastle, owned by Hagan Group - clean & tidy grounds, but toilet & shower facilities really disappointing, they were like bad public toilets - but close to Newcastle
  • Castlewellan is hard to beat, great site and Savages pub round the corner for a wee pint and a game of pool

We have been using Castlewellan for years and have heard of bikes going missing but if anything like our three they leave their stuff at their A**E anyway

We regularly go to one just outside Ballymoney called Drumaheglis.

Its on the banks of the River Bann and half way between Ballymoney and coleraine. Run by Ballymoney Borough Council. Very very popular and bank hols etc are usually booked out as soon as the booking opens (I think its December - we missed it this year  )

Sssshhhhhh!!!!! Don't tell everyone about it though ;)

Also Delamont outside Killyleagh - beautiful site but sometimes not the most relaxing due to over enthusiastic wardens (tape measure between "units" etc!!!!) and anoraks lol!!!! But fabulous loos and showers - "Loo of the Year" winners no less:D

Bernieflint - would the Armagh one be Gosford ??? - have been there but heard tell of it. And the leaving bikes at their a*** bit sounds very very familiar!!!!
Relievedmum - We would pop into Drumaheglis just to use park and it is lovely though the fact it is beside river Bann puts me off as kids still quite young.
When you stay at Delamont do you not end up spending loads on all the extras ??

Thanks for all the posts so far - could be a good thread :-) :-)
