ok, cant take pics at the mo, as its hammering down, so, will try and describe

its quite invasive, having spread from one, to now over a dozen plants in the space of a few weeks

it stands tall, with big dark green leaves. starts off looking like a beet, but then gets taller, with a definite stem, and then the leaves unfurl. the roots underground are similar to a dandylion, but alot longer and thicker. ive dug down a spade depth, and still cant find the base

today i noticed some flowers forming, unopened they are a similar size and set up as an acorn, ie a frilly edge hat, with a ball underneath, but when opened the flowers look similar to bellbine, but its def not a floor cover, creeper with tendrils, like bellbine

any ideas? its all in amongst my onions and garlic, so its a pain to try and get at without uprooting my veg

Looks a bit like the horseradish I have growing in a planter. Horseradish has thick roots, and the flowers look like this flickr.com/photos/wolfworld/3576625299/.

The leaves look comfrey like and the stems look almost potato like. I'm not sure, but someone will know.

well originally i too thought they were spuds, as they are coming up in the bed where i grew spuds last year. but once they get some height they are nothing like spuds. also theres no tuber at the end. will have to check out comfrey, to see if its a possible

just looked, nothing like any comfrey pics i can find online. comfrey is quite a bushy plant, and these are def singular spems, with leaf growth as regular intervals
