Does this PPI re-claiming actually work then?

I am reading through these posts and i remembered i had a loan with Lloyds TSB some years ago cant be sure when exactly and was wondering if there was any point in contacting them to see if they still hold details of this because i'm nearly sure i had PPI on that loan. I know companies dont hold details of things past 6 years so, can anybody tell me if i would be wasting my time with this one?

Also, is there any repercussions with trying to upset companies like Lloyds TSB? What i mean is, because i 'm going to give it a go trying to get some money back, because you still bank with them can they try and get their money back another way?
I currently have a joint, current, savings and credit card with them and am constantly overdrawn (trying to get out of it), savings (none) credit card(over £1K on it).....so i owe them money now so could they say 'well your finances are not good at the moment with us'..........or something similar???

And lastly if i was covered by another policy such as an insurance covering my mortgage payments(i need to read this further) covering for critical illness, death, unemployment etc., would i be covered through that to pay credit cards/loans?

Sorry for sounding so thick but its not as straight forward as it seems to me!!!

Hi do not worry, its best to make sure.

What I would do in regards of the other policy you have, check this out to make sure what it covers for altogether as it may vary from one provider to another.
If you no longer have the policy booklet details these you can request for free of charge.

Now when you reclaim from a bank who you have an account with, your in your right to make a reclaim if you were mis sold on a policy, and I am aware many have still be successful in reclaiming whilst still banking and they should not discriminate you due to that reason.

However, it you were successful on a reclaim, and have arrears on another account with them, they do I believe have a right to have this refunded towards that actual account, and anything remaining would be refunded back to the customer, also the interest etc.

Hopefully others will post up who still bank with them whilst they have reclaimed on ppi.

Hope this helps, and ask for any help if required.;)

Forgot to mention, my husband recently requested for information via Subject access request (SAR) and they even send info/details going back as from the late 90's, so hopefully if you do request a SAR they will also supply you with details from earlier years.
SAR letter template letter on below link, and you enclose a payment of £10 cheque or postal order, they have 40 days to comply.

If they cannot locate anything they have to write to explain and return your payment.

However, if you have any old bank statements lying around somewhere, the loan account number is shown next to the monthly repayments made, or if you also do online banking this should allow you to check your statements going back about 7 or more years.

Your very welcome, you go for it.

And the SAR should therefore be a big help to you in reclaiming the bank charges as well, so if you require help on the bank charges you can post on this thread here:

It soon adds up and good luck.:)

Has anyone any idea if claims can be made as far as March 2003. I had a credit card with Alliance and Leicester was not working at that time and I was advised to take out PPI which I did for 18mth or more. I was not working at that time and it was only later that I became self employed. I have the account number and some of the statements dating from March 2003 until April 2004. Or have I missed the boat??

Anyone had claims dating this far back

Yes you can still reclaim, I have been successful with reclaims going back to 2001, against LLoyds TSB, go for it.
And many have been successful even from reclaiming back from even earlier years.

  • Hi all
This is my first post on the forum, I too am looking for a wee bit of advice regarding ppi on my bank of scotland credit card. I took the credit card out in 2001 whilst serving in the armed forces. I am just wondering if it is possible to make a claim for ppi taken out so far back, also am I right in thinking that because I was in full time employment where I would have recieved full sickness pay and because I have only just been made aware that ppi was optional that I may have a case against HBOS ?

    Hi and welcome

And yes you can, lots of us have been successful going back to this actual year and even earlier.

Send them the FOS questionnaire as found on link below, further down the page Stage one of reclaiming, keep copies as well:

Keep at them and ask for any help if required, good luck.;)

I have just called the bank to request a copy of the original agreement/credit card contract and informed them of my intention to reclain ppi I believe I was missold, I explained that at the time of taking out the card I was a full time serving member of the armed forces therefore the PPI would have had no benifit to me due to the Army honoring full salary if I was off sick or supplying full pention if I was ever medically discharged, I also explained that because of this very reason had I been made aware that PPI was optional I would have opted out. There reply was something along the lines of because I was paying full national insurance I would have been able to claim on the PPI should I have needed 2 therefor she could not see me having a case. I informed her that I wanted the PPI canceled with immediate effect and that I wanted a copy of the documentation sent to me asap, to which she replied that she would have to pass me details onto the complaints department who will be in contact with me within 30 days. I know these companies are going to try and put me off persuing the claim by any means they can and I am prepared for the long haul. Should I still fill in the form and sent it to them or wait for the complaints department to get in touch with me ?

definately send the complaint in yourself, itherwise you may wait 30 days and realise the lender has not done anything.

if they do do something i the meantime all the better.

good luck and let us know how you get on.
I'm proud to say that the banks no longer take money from me after becoming debt free
