    Cheers di3004
I have just called the bank to request a copy of the original agreement/credit card contract and informed them of my intention to reclain ppi I believe I was missold, I explained that at the time of taking out the card I was a full time serving member of the armed forces therefore the PPI would have had no benifit to me due to the Army honoring full salary if I was off sick or supplying full pention if I was ever medically discharged, I also explained that because of this very reason had I been made aware that PPI was optional I would have opted out. There reply was something along the lines of because I was paying full national insurance I would have been able to claim on the PPI should I have needed 2 therefor she could not see me having a case. I informed her that I wanted the PPI canceled with immediate effect and that I wanted a copy of the documentation sent to me asap, to which she replied that she would have to pass me details onto the complaints department who will be in contact with me within 30 days. I know these companies are going to try and put me off persuing the claim by any means they can and I am prepared for the long haul. Should I still fill in the form and sent it to them or wait for the complaints department to get in touch with me ?

    Hi there and your welcome.

Personally I would try to keep everything writing, in case you need to fall back on this, or write to them thanking them for the conversation in regards of the mis selling of the PPI, and look forward to hearing from them by the timescale they given.

    Hope this helps, good luck.:)

  • Is the OP asking about attempting to reclaim ppi because it was 'missold' or was ppi sold correctly and the OP just fancies a bit more extra cash?

I am reading through these posts and i remembered i had a loan with Lloyds TSB some years ago cant be sure when exactly and was wondering if there was any point in contacting them to see if they still hold details of this because i'm nearly sure i had PPI on that loan. I know companies dont hold details of things past 6 years so, can anybody tell me if i would be wasting my time with this one?

Also, is there any repercussions with trying to upset companies like Lloyds TSB? What i mean is, because i 'm going to give it a go trying to get some money back, because you still bank with them can they try and get their money back another way?
I currently have a joint, current, savings and credit card with them and am constantly overdrawn (trying to get out of it), savings (none) credit card(over £1K on it).....so i owe them money now so could they say 'well your finances are not good at the moment with us'..........or something similar???

And lastly if i was covered by another policy such as an insurance covering my mortgage payments(i need to read this further) covering for critical illness, death, unemployment etc., would i be covered through that to pay credit cards/loans?

Sorry for sounding so thick but its not as straight forward as it seems to me!!!
IF you did have PPI added then I was told yesterday from the ABI that other insurance "could" affect your making a claim on "other" insurance. In other words sometimes your other policies can be reduced to make you only in the same position as if you were getting paid you usual salary (plus state incapacity benefit usually) and anything that you claim in insurance is actually reduced if you are over insured.

As regards your reclaiming the PPI if this was single premium and they did not offer you to buy elsewhere or added as compulsory then you could still make a complaint. I still bank with the bank I reclaimed from and they have not done anything to us yet but we have always run the account well and I would be down on them like a lead weight if they took retaliatory action just for reclaiming something that had no benefit to us and was actually adding to our debt.
