Sorry, have only just got back on catch up.... if you lot do find the cute northerners, could you ask about southern cousins for me please??

I've never had a problem with paying my own way- it's paying for them all the time that p*sses me off!! Grrr... the ex-bf used to tell me we had to stay in his room (shared flat, no TV, no radio) because he couldn't afford to buy us both dinner. When I offered to pay out of sheer claustrophobia, he would automatically head for more expensive places than he would ever take me.... lost count of the times I would simply walk away and head for a reasonably cheap place against his protests.

i think it's bcause when you are with someone you are more easily persuaded in getting things like takeaways and extra treats when shopping,-or maybe that's just me?!!:o then their is the extra mouth to feed and in my experience most men have good appetites!;)

I found I was spending more and eating more when I was dating. Im happily single at the moment, even if I did have a partner Id sort my money and bills out myself (a pride thing).
Although I dont have children, I do have a very demanding dobermann who is going thru her teens. (She got a bacterial infection in her acne and cost me £40 at vets!)
I need to buy myself a new quilt too, as I walked into the bedroom to find she had chewed thru the cover and was happily pulling the stuffing out of my quilt!!

Unfortunately, it's like most other things in life. If you're working as a team, two is better than one. If you're not, then one is better than two.

  • I've been single for about approaching 3 years now (eek, doesn't time fly!) but find that I'm managing pretty well even with only one income. My ex didn't contribute fairly to the expenses and didn't pay a penny towards my son's expenses, so it wasn't such a hardship when he left.

Every now and again I wish that there was someone to share the bills with but I wouldn't want to live with someone again - I'm too used to my own space. But then again, I do end up spending more than I should to go out, otherwise I'd be stuck in on my own every night/weekend and be a totally sad c*w.

So generally a totally ambivalent answer - but if there are any spare northern men around I could be persuaded to give one a try............
  • I would spend loads more if I were single, my fella and I don't live together but we spend alot of time at my house thus spending less on going out. he too is very traditional and earns far more and pays out far less than me so he treats nearly all the time (which I am more than grateful for - in fact i keep having a go at him for it!) and because he eats at mine quite often, he contributes towards the food!
Was debt free... then went travelling!
