I'm a true singleton, no children only animals. I seem to have managed to get myself into debt pretty seriously, mostly through trying to keep a home and at the begining trying to keep up the Jones. Although i can keep up with payments, i would be so much easier if there was another salary. I always think that it would be pure cash as my salary pays all the bills(just about).
Don't know if being single will make it any easier to pay things off but i'm giving it a go. And i get suport from this board which i don't get as a singleton.

Well i've been single for about 4 years so its hard to comment but I can only assume been single makes it some what easier to remain on target.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650

I do find it easier to control where my money goes now I'm on my own. Both my ex-husband and my most recent serious ex-boyfriend earned substantially less than me, and rapidly progressed from agreeing to 'go dutch' occasionally, to 'letting' me treat them once in a while, and then onto complaining that I liked cheap restuarants, and couldn't we go somewhere nicer? At my expense, of course! I didn't think I earned enough to attract gigolos.
I just find it easier to handle my money and my debts without someone elses demands getting in the way - no housemate, no financial partner, no kids, no animals.
Would like a cat though. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

What is it with "modern" men? They seem so keen to strip you of cash, don't they? What if the hokey cokey is what it's all about? :eek:Official "Bring back Mark and Lard NOW! or else (please)" Member 160 -

Sorry Slayerx - that was a sweeping generalisation.

That's ok I'll forgive you this time.
I know what you mean though a lot of couples I see spend way too much and it always appears to be the male, that tends to be in mainly younger couples though.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650 -

Having NMTIMB (no mans toothbrush in my bathroom), i have found it easier to become debt free, however, i am at the end of the long road of debt now and its pretty much taking care of its self. Being in a couple doesnt have to be expensive, it depends what you are happy doing, watching a dvd for instance doesnt cost a lot. Im now at the point where having a cute northern bloke for company would be very appealing....November NSD's - 70
