I hope you enjoy your new companions.

I've never had a cat, but our current pets are called: Loki (border collie), Cinnamon and Nutmeg (Guineapigs), Widdershins and Blackberry (Doe Rats), and Albus, Regulus, Remus, Sirius, James and Peter (Buck Rats). We have started traditions for names: our dogs are gods, our cavies are herbs and spices, our does tend to have pagan or natural names and our buck rats are Harry Potter characters. In addition, if we get the pets in pairs they tend to complement each other (Deosil and Widdershins - Clockwise and Anti-Clockwise or Two black brother rats were Sirius and Regulus after the characters who were brothers with the surname Black). That said, we are not fussy and would have exceptions to our little rules if a name stood out for a particular pet.

Good luck in choosing names, you'll find that watching them for a while should give you a few ideas. Names shouldn't be rushed into for the sake of having one - it's best that it fits. Please try not to take after my husband's old cat... Fluff or Fluffy... You'll have half the cats in the neighbourhood coming to that one. :o

Anyone thinking of adopting an animal from a rescue centre needs to remember that as a minimum it will have had vaccinations, been wormed, had flea treatment and a full health check. If they are old enough and fit enough, they will also have been spayed/neutered. Also take in to account rent or mortgage, gas & electric, rates, water bills, staffing costs, insurance, vehicle running costs etc etc etc.

I think it is a good idea that the rescue centres give a guideline donation - I bet they don't even cover their costs half the time.
