How much do I donate?

We got a kitten two weeks ago from a local animal sanctuary. They ask for a minimum donation of £55 per cat. She had already had her first injection, and they gave us vouchers that we can use at any vets for her second injection and for spaying when she's old enough. Having looked at the vets fees for these, it looks like we got a pretty good deal.
If your kittens have already been immunised, maybe you could factor what you have saved by not paying for it yourself, into your donation.
We had difficulty agreeing on a name for ours. Someone on the board suggested we tried calling her different names to see what she would answer to....and she came when we called Tilly. I hope you have as much fun with your kitties as we do with Tilly.

When we got a kitten for SD from Cats Protection about 3 years ago, they had a 'set' donation of 40 (pound sign not working!), the kitten had been spayed but still needed immunsing.I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0

Picking up two Kittens today, from the Cats Protection League, and they have asked for a 'donation'.
Trouble is I am unsure of how much to donate. Anyone know what is an acceptable amount (without making my self skint ).
Mods please feel free to move this somewhere else.
We adopted 2 cats from the RSPCA in 2000. I've just located the adoption "fees" schedule. For cats under 6 months the fees are £17.50 for adoption, £10 for chippng and £17.50 for neutering, making a total of £45 per kitten. For a neutered adult cat it was £40.
Might just give an idea of what they might be expecting??

my local animal sanctuary asks for a donation of £10 for a kitten
might also be a nice idea if you cant afford much to pick up a tin of pet food every time you shop and every couple of months take them all round as a donation0 -
Hi. Yes I've had this experience where the 'donation' was set at £45 per kitten because they'd given first injections, neutered/speyed and de-wormed.
FYI, I often see ads from cats rescue orgs. for help around late spring/early summer (born generally then because gives kittys best chance of survival), when they're inundated with kittys of all kinds and can't take any more in.
Some charities also do a foster scheme. For older kitkats with a health problem, they also offer to cover all vet bills etc if you adopt.

All my present cats (we have 3 at the moment)have been from shelters but i have to say i only had to pay a few pounds as they where those small shelters rather than a main one.
My cats are normally named after fruits or herbs though my OH cat has a normal name, Oliver but we call him Jolly as he is so good natured and quite funny.
Just remember whatever you call them you have to make sure calling it out in the middle of your garden when all can hear won't embarrass you;)Success means having to worry about every thing in the world......EXCEPT MONEY. Johnny Cash

Our wee Aggie was £45, and that included all vaccinations, worming, and a voucher for splaying.Every now and again we pop in with some Whiskas as a donation.
Good luck with your new kittens, and I hope they are as loving and fun as Aggie.
