How much do I donate?

Not at all OS, but I know someone here will be able to help.

Picking up two Kittens today, from the Cats Protection League, and they have asked for a 'donation'.

Trouble is I am unsure of how much to donate. Anyone know what is an acceptable amount (without making my self skint ).

i would say about 20 quid. or a tenner with a few tins of cat food and a blanket or something like that. i am sure they would be grateful of it.

I haven't a clue, but whatever you can afford and are comfortable with. No point in making yourself skint, as you now have 2 kittens to feed too. A pound is nothing to some, and the world to others who have nothing - so just give what you can - and it could be time rather than money.

whatever you can afford- if you can't afford any money why not devote your time instead- admin, caring for animals, do a sponsored walk etc

I concur with redballoon - if you can afford it. My immediate reaction was that I would give £20. As it is a donation though, it is entirely based on what you can afford, and what it is worth to you.

Ultimately, there is no wrong answer.

When I got my dog from a chairty 8 years ago I HAD to give a SET donation of £100:eek: I asked why they didn't just call it a fee & have done with it as I had no say in what I gave if I wanted the dog, they said it was for tax reasons:confused::rolleyes::p The "donation" was higher as they had immunised him which was fair enough but none the less to dictate to donation........

Be warned they may have a set expectation & even a donation tarriff:eek::mad:

Good luck & enjoy your kittens:D

    thats really naughty!

I hope your kittens are worth it though, mine are a year old and i love them to bits! I used to pick the kittens up a lot and put them over my shoulder (like you would a baby!) and walk around with them, they still like it now!

so the way you treat them now is the way they will be wanted to treat forever!

Have you thought of names yet?

    Thanks everyone for your replies,

Lillibet, thats what I was worried about!

They've just had their first immunisations, and I know these aren't cheap,
but as well as a donation, I also have to make sure I can afford to get their second imms done in 3 weeks or so.

I think I shall put a donation in a sealed envelope, and just hope that it is acceptable to them. I was planning on one of those DD donation plans to them anyway, so that would be ongoing.

Oh well, better go and catproof the house now, I'm expecting fun and games for a long while to come.

Names:eek: we can't agree. so far one has been nicknamed as carpet cat, as her fur makes her look like a 1970's orange and brown carpet.

maybe she will be called CC:confused:

Any ideas for two girls names for cats anyone?

Ring the RSPCA, or equivelant as they have set prices, last time I think we paid £35 per kitten with 1st injection done and a voucher for the local vets for the second one.

However, this was a number of years ago :)

Our kittens are called Mamo (girl) and Jabba (boy) as they where names from our honeymoon (mamo was the name of a aby orang utan that we saw in the wild that had been released, and jabba was a man who found hubbys wedding ring after he lost it)

the names are special to us so perhaps you could do the same thing?
