    I would have uninstalled the software, returned it (if bought) and used a different one. If nobody complains to the company which programmed the software, they will keep programming this cr*p. If there is no alternative to this program, you could have changed the permissions of this specific program folder and maybe the corresponding registry keys. There's not a single logical reason why someone would need to write into the program directory in order to run a software, program and data should always be separated. I've even seen software where installation directories etc. are hard coded ("C:\Program files\" instead of "%programfiles%")...

    Yes, but at the time they were only 6 or 7 & just wanted to play games offline - wasn't even connected to the internet so I wasn't too bothered.
