They (he/she? I am assuming she, given the name Daisy...) are running W7.

I am surprised you don't get something like this:

Ah, okay I recognise that now - I have gone into that and right clicked - I get the list that you are referring to, but it doesn't have run as administrator as an option.

I have run hijackthis several times now - it is certainly doing a job, but I just can't find a way to save a logfile, it is just bringing up notpad which says it can't find the file :-(

Edit, yes I am running windows 7, and yes I'm a girl!

    BINGO!!! :-)

Edit - the log shows that I am using IE - when I couldn't make HJT work I uninstalled it and downloaded it again using IE, to see if that would make any difference. But I normally use firefox (in case you are wondering!)

    Open Spybot
    Change Mode (Top) to ADVANCED
    Select TOOLS then RESIDENT
UNTICK 'Resident TEA TIMER' (Leave 'SD Helper' TICKED)

    ..........................................................................................

Id recommend uninstalling ADAWARE, its next to useless
(Im no fan of Mcrapee either)

    Run LSPFIX ~

    ........................................................................................

Im pretty sure you still have trojans
    Please run COMBOFIX
    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
    Shut down your anti virus
Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be) ~ if there are loads of 'SNAPSHOT' pages then leave them out

If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe') Or SAVE as 'QWERTY' on download
(If no log comes up or you lose it, COMBOFIX.TXT can be found in C drive)

I have tried to do this but it comes up with this message:

If using windows NT/2000/xp please make sure you are logged in as administrator and try again

If you are still receiving this message as administrator it may be necessary to re-install winsock2

I have clicked on this link, and also typed it manually into the address bar, but it comes up with a message that firefox can't find it.

Also, I don't know how to shut down my anti virus (MacAfee)

    Sorry to be a pain

Okay I went directly to the bleepingcomputer site and attempted to download from there. I got a message:

C:\Users\AnneMarie\Downloads\combofix.exe could not be saved because the sourcefile could not be used

try again later or contact the service administrator.

when I tried again I got the message that firefox could not find it.

Could this be because I have not yet turned off my antivirus? I'm still looking to see how to do this.

    Thanks

EDIT - I worked out how to turn off the antivirus, but I am still getting the message 'problem loading the page - firefox cannot find the file combofix' I could try with IE, or google chrome, but for the moment I am going to wait till you come back to me.

(I do have the option to return the laptop to factory settings and start again - it is a fairly new laptop with not a lot on it, so that is a possibility)

    Thanks for your continued help
