Thankyou !!!!!!, savage like I said it doesn't matter that their parent company is US based, Ancestry.co.uk is a UK company and as such falls under the DSR and all other UK laws, regulations, etc.
Are you suggesting for example that Microsoft could not be sued in any court other than a US based one? They are a globally based company with a US parent and many international children corporations each of which is subject to the rules, regulations and laws of their native country.0 -

The following from their T&Cs seems to indicate that they are aware that they come under DSR and are clarifying the situationThere is a law applying to UK consumer users called the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, which can allow you to cancel monthly subscriptions, quarterly subscriptions, and subscription renewals (usually within seven days). However, you agree in this case.......This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Has anyone any experience of cancelling a subscription under their terms, rather than under the DSR cooling off terms (which would not apply to me even if I'd not agreed to waive that right, given I'm a long term customer.)0

I've cancelled the free trials before and that was pain free, not sure about the normal cancellation though but I'm sure they would be fine.0

I cancelled my subscription when it was up for renewal as I couldn't afford it - they tried to entice me with money off but I was adamant that it was too expensive and they were fine about it. I could still access and edit my family tree that I had on the site, just couldn't look anything up.
I re-joined a few months later going through topcashback and got more commission from them than Ancestry offered me as a discount0 -
ancestry are completely bona fide.0
