How would you make him (or her) shift it? I don't think he (or she) would be that bothered to be honest.

    Some Mothers...

If I was inconvenienced enough that I couldnt get a child seat in, then Id make damn sure he was inconvenienced enough to have to come out to the car.

People manage, if you need to get kids in and out then anchor the pram, pull forward until the doors are clear of the neighbouring cars, get out and install baby into child seat.

I've wondered about this. If i was on my own i wouldn't be happy about leaving baby on the side of the road alone while i pull out enough to get the door clear to get baby seat in.

To put it bluntly, surely if someone is inept enough to drive into a pram at car park speeds, they're probably going to do it regardless of whether you are standing next to the pram or not.

If the design of the car park has a walking area between the rows of cars then obviously that is the better choice.

On the subject of bad parking btw. Last night I saw a police car parked in the motorcycle only bay at my local Tesco. *sigh*

Maybe i am just paranoid then as i would worry about someone taking off with the child! Small chance i know, but still.

That's just what happens in France. Drivers park with handbrakes off to facilitate others parking - that's what bumpers are for, they will tell you!
But cars havent had "Bumpers" for about 5 years now, so how do you do it?

Many years ago (I had a Triumph Dolomite, so that should give you an idea of when!) my wife and I went on a driving holiday around europe, we decided to stop at Cologne in Germany for the night and we found a cobbled square surrounded by hotels and restaurants, there were a few cars and vans parked in the square so we parked up and booked into a hotel for the night, we then went for a wander around and to have a few beers and a meal.
We returned about 9:0 clock at night to find that the cobbled square had been emptied and turned into an outdoor eating area, the restaurants had all brought out tables and chairs and the place was packed with diners, in the middle of it all was our Triumph surrounded by Germans eating and being merry, the restaurant that we had parked near had even put a cloth on the bonnet and were using it as a spare table!
We ignored the car and made our way back to the hotel and the following morning the cobbled area was transformed back into a parking area, there probably were signs explaining that you could not park there in the evening but as we cannot understand more than very basic German we did not have a clue.
We had a parking ticket (which was duly ignored) and we quickly loaded the car and set off on our journey.
My biggest regret is that we did not get a photo of the car, but due to embarrassment we just slunk away.

Obviously the driver knows that painted lines are just that and no more.

Sorry, didn't mean for the thread to get diverted into a debate about P&C spaces - I was just amazed that people will choose to park on hatched (ie no parking) areas, rather than walking a bit further from their car to the destination. On both occasions (the hospital and Asda), there were plenty of empty spaces further away from the doors. It's just laziness.

Just to bring it back on topic.....

Fresh photo taken this morning (30 mins ago) in Worcester city centre, both wing mirrors have been destroyed and the Police have put a warning sticker in the rear window.

It's a narrow road anyway, so it's actually causing quite an obstruction!

Before you say "it's been abandoned", why bother about the double yellow lines if your going to abandon a car? :p
