Ive been looking into Liverpool for my boyfriend but can't seem to find any races in Lpool on Sat 31st July. They will be going Fri 30th to Sun 1st Aug. Does anyone have any good/unusual/cheap ideas on what they could do? My boyfriend had seen a deal on inside go karting, but just seeing what everyone elses ideas are?! x
Hi I'm from the wirral which is over the water from Liverpool theres a race meeting at Haydock Park on the 30th. Which is much closer than Chester although not as good imo.
If they dont mind a little travelling theres plenty of outdoor activities to be done in nearby north wales... theres a cracking go kart track in deeside. Or theres white water rafting and or canyoning in llangollen.
Theres also a couple of airel rope adventure courses one in knowsley comes to mind. I thinks its called ariel extreme.
All that and we have plenty of boozers to keep them happy, theres also a number of the places your hubby will be going that dosent get mentioned afterwards tell him to search out :A.0 -
Try Krakow in Poland, lots of cheap flights from Uk airports, beer from £0.80p per pint and some of the best talent in Europe.0

One way of really keeping costs down for those who have mentioned Chester races is to go on the open enclosure and be prepared! It's around £8 to get on but you can take whatever you want with you- this goes from people taking a bottle of wine or crate of beer, to taking bbqs, gazebos, cricket sets etc. We had to pregnant drivers last year but this year we will return with the children- plenty of space and good amotsphere- more so than the stands in my opinion.
There are some fabulous pubs in Liverpool that would mean you provide your own entertainment.0 -
Hi All,
Just thought I'd post about the goodie bags I've made up for my Sister-In-Law-to-be's Hen Do.
For £1.29 per person I've got:
Plastic Drawstring bag
Plain Keyrings (will fill with a picture of the hen and the date)
A mini soap
Full size collection 2000 Lipstick
"Spirit" dangly earrings (think that's a Superdrug make?)
Little pot of bubbles
Wanted to do gift bags, but thought it might turn out expensive for 30 people (we're having a sit down meal), but got all of those bits in the 'wholesale' section of Ebay! (Except the bubbles which were from tesco, 6 for 50p).
You have to start early and just KEEP LOOKING as eventually you will find some really nice bits.
Hope this helps anyone who was thinking of a goodybag for the hens.0 -
I think if you get !!!!ed and stager about fighting in clothes that show of your flab you should stay in your own town. It seems unfair that you inflict it on others:-)
There is so many ways to celebrate your last days of freedom with your friends. You can have a drink and flirt if you like, you can have massage, you can bungee jump naked. Why would anyone want to vomit and get beaten up?
Everyone is diffrent and its ok to do the things you and your friends enjoy. I can't see why anyone would want a key ring and some soap but if that makes them happy, go for it.0 -

Each to their own and all that but not everyone gets "!!!!ed and staggers about in clothes that show off your flab" or "vomits and gets beaten up".
Maybe that just happens in YOUR town?English by birth. GEORDIE by the grace of God.0 -
I had a very inexpensive (but very tasty) meal at a local Indian restaurant with a group of 10 friends - the owners knew us well, as we ate there every week and bless them,
they really looked after us. We ate early so weren't intruding on anyone else's dining experience, then went back to our home for cocktails & champagne. It was a lovely evening! My suggestion for a reasonable Hen Night, is - try going to a Casino. I'd never been and had no idea what to expect! One of our friends was a member so she could sign us in. It was great fun! Really quite classy surroundings, lots of people dressed up, a buzzy exciting atmosphere and even more unexpected - great food (very reasonably priced) and not too expensive drinks! No-one spent more than £20 all night - and that included eating. Infact, I bought £10 worth of chips, ate & drank and had fun on roulette and left £15 UP!!! Another thing that was much appreciated is the high level of (polite) security; so no trouble and no unwanted 'attention'! Also, we were escorted to our taxis by the very doorstaff and they waited until we were all aboard safely. A nice touch and meant we went back many times afterwards!0 -
Sounds cheesy as, but just had a great weekend in Blackpool on a stag do. Met up with a top hen do - no naughties! - but had a great laugh and all the pubs really looked after us. Would thoroughly recommend it for those of a more lively disposition.
Also went to Chester races on the Saturday - Dee stand £13 to get in and not too different from Tatts etc but feels more like being at the races than on the course. Queues for drinks require patience though.0 -
as a unique opportunity for members of this forum - I'll give anybody who books quoting MSE with a pre-booked stag party to the Lost in London pub crawl (the biggest in London) - a £8 ticket (normally £12)

I'm organising my friends Hen do. She wanted something that her Mum and Aunt could do but also wanted to have a fun time with pals. We all live in the London area (apart from chief Hen who is coming over from NZ) so we're going for a meal in London on the Friday night where we can dress up etc and then on the Saturday we're going to head to Oxfordshire to the Wallingford Bunkfest which is a mainly free folk festival which also has a beer festival (bliss) you can camp for a tenner a night and go to a ceilidh for another tenner if you fancy. She's "stoked" (another Kiwi), her Mum and Auntie get to join in on the Friday and I can stop phoning real ale pubs looking for a lot of rooms. The bunkfest is the 3rd - 5th Sept if anyone's interested!History repeats itself
Has to.
