For camera ping winners who received refurb. Cameras

Hiya everyone,

Ive been in touch this morning with McCains about the cameras, as i had 2 delivered Saturday both with Quality Assured Refurbished Product stickers on them :eek:

Just had a call back and she assured me they are brand new cameras, theyve had to order them in from the Far East as the comp is a lot more popular than they first thought hense them changing the cameras from Canon to Nikon,

The handing house opened the cameras to make sure theyre ok hense the sticker on them, BUT McCain lady wants us to open them and check that theyre ok if not she wants us to get in touch.

I also asked why the box is battered on one of them and she said it might of happened in the post, i said nope the actual box is dusty/filthy and she couldnt answer for me

So yeah, open the boxes and make sure the cameras are ok

Hi i received mine saturday
shes not telling the truth if you look at the yellow piece of paper inside it says reconditioned and it only gives a 6month guarantee , new you would get 12 month.:(

yes exactly definately not new and the camera wouldn't be wrapped in a sandwich bag, lol :eek:

no didnt mean it to come across like that

i have just spoken to them and she didnt realise it actually states inside its reconditioned and the guarantee, she is ringing me back and says they might all have to be sent back

Just phoned her back aswell and shes going to get back to me aswell

she seemed shocked that they both had the yellow slip in saying reconditioned and 6 months guarantee, gonna package mine back up and put them somewhere

Oh ive used 1 of mine, it works ok so think i'll leave mine, i'm happy with it.

I used to work for a camera company and cameras are often opened (by the maker) and tested before sending and a quailty test type sticker stuck on after BUT they really shouldn't say refurb on them, it means they will be 2nd hand for a number of reasons, could just be unwanted but could be a problem.

Mcain are arranging for a courier to bring out a new camera within the next few days, she doesnt know what it will be but it will be brand new.
