Nope! No spots, no funny shadow, no itching where the new growth is coming through. It does help if you have a tube of Savlon or similar to put on it, that's probably stopped the redness coming through.

Waxing was quite ineffective for me. I had it done 3 times (different places, different methods) and I still had to shave a week or so later where so many hairs had broken off at skin level.

Having had underarms, calves, thighs and bikini done at the same time (yes, I was young and foolish!) there was no way I was putting up with that again for the sake of a hair free week. I'll stick to my razor.

I have the same problem but I don't think I could stand letting the hairs grow long enough to be waxed.

I am looking for some help with this too! I suffer really bad when I shave my legs/bikini area and I get these horrible looking red dots (sometimes coming out in spots) which are really itchy coming up sometimes immediately after I have shaved. This can sometimes happen with my underarms too. I usually exfoliate a couple of times a week and always give areas a good scrub to try and avoid any ingrowing hais.

I have heard that waxing will only make this worse... does anyone know if this is true? I have my OH's Pass Out Parade in July and I am getting married in August and would love to be shadow free for both!

Any ideas as to what I could do? This has been playing on my mind lately... :(

I am so glad I am not the only person to bleed when epilating! I tried this a few times about 3 years ago- the entire underarm of my tshirt was RED! Soooo embarrasing as I was in a yoga class yet didn't find out 'till I went to get changed! It never seemed to stop happening despite the repeated times and I never managed to get all the hairs. In the end I ended up tweezing them out- far less painful! (probably as I wasn't ripping holes in the skin, just taking out the hairs from the roots) but painful for my eyes as they are kinda at the wrong angle to do that.

I want to wax but am wary I'd need to leave my under arms to grow. Now I shave daily, use a cream to get rid of some (though it does a poor job but they have them at the pound shop) I always seem to end up with burnt underarms yet many of the hairs still there, shaving only works for 6 hours or so.

How long do you leave it before waxing? and are there any home waxing kits you'd recommend? I have tried veet strips and Boots wax, tore at the skin 'till it felt burnt, left burn style marks yet only seemed to grab 10% of the hairs if at all. I'm don't want to waste my cash getting this done if the hairs are not long enough or at different parts of their growing cycle (so new regrowth would be immediate if not left long enough).

    Anyone any tips?

I'm really struggling with my epilator under the arms. It bleeds and becomes so sore. Do you think using tweezers a little inbetween shaving might "toughen" me up to make the epilator less painful? I can't imagine ever getting used to it, but I know that I do like epilation. Its great to not have to keep shaving everyday.

I am exactly the same!! OMG I can't use it under my arms no matter how hard I try, and believe me I'm still trying :o I was given a suggestion on another thread about trying pain relieving gel 10-20 minutes befor I epilate... still not tried it but I will as a last resort :D

I do LOVE my epilator though :T It's brilliant on my legs and lasts really well. I've even started using it on my bikini line... slowly and carefully is my advice ;) Hurts less than under my arms!!
Even if you stumble, you're still moving forward.

how long does it take to do a leg - shaving is obviously quick so I just wondered whether if I got an epilator will I be having to stop comping for an evening to do my legs LOL

Takes longer for me to wet-shave my legs then eplilate my legs.

Indeed - epilation is the way to go. My epilator has a second "beginners" head which doesn't grab as many hairs at one time as the usual head. Makes it much less painful until you get used to it!

Most of my underarm hair has given up the struggle now anyway :p which is brilliant and what little is left is much finer and lighter than it was.

I like the sound of the beginners head on the epilator.

What make / model is it please?

    Thanks! :)

I second the epilator suggestions, its killing me under the arms but lasts night session was better than previous ones so there is hope, as for the bikini area, omg pain, it kills, top of the legs is fine but further in iykwim is a killer, I'll try to persevere but I'm really not sure, oh and about the underarm area I find that a good application of a nice thick moisturiser after really helps to calm things down and soften:)
