Car Insurance- Occupation

Good Evening,

When you apply for car insurance does it matter if your occupation is part or full time. I am looking at a diamond policy and it does not give you an option to choose part/ full.

Thank You

    Yes, it usually matters quite a lot. Not sure why diamond don't have the option, but if they are assuming it's full time and it's not this could invalidate your insurance.

    I know the system we have in work brings up either F/T or P/T and seperates them, not sure about online though, give them a quick call and check on 0800 118 1633

    thanks.

    I have completed three different quotes with three different insurers and NONE offered a part/full time option. Its all either employed/ unemployed/ self-employed/ student.

    The most annoying thing is I am only working part time until my full time job starts in August.

    well I just phone Diamond and explained my situation.

    The man I spoke to said he couldn'd "advise me" but when I explained my situation he said I just had top follow the "on screen instructions". When I asked about whether full/ part time work mattered and pointed out they did not provide space to choose an option he simply said well you will just need to put the job you do at present down then

    Why not put unemployed for your occupation, which then gives you a field for a secondary occupation. See if it makes any difference to the premium where your p/t job goes (ie as occupation or secondary occupation)

    but i AM employed. If you choose unemployed you cannot choose a 'second' occupation since you do not have first.

    This is all very confusing!

    OK. Then what is your main occupation (eg housewife etc). Whatever it is, put it in then say "yes" to the question about secondary occupation and put your p/t job as your secondary occupation.

    I'm not really anything else. Here are the facts;

    - Just finished uni
    - Worked as a part time care worker for four years
    - have studied to be a primary tecaher and will start a full time teaching job in August

    So why not see what happens to the premium if you say you are unemployed as your main ocupation and put in your part time job as your secondary occupation? Seems to be the truth.
