  • Thanks!

This has worked really well on my computer - it did take some time but picked up lots of things that norton, mcaffee, panda and avast had missed (i've had one or two issues with trojans and spyware of late).

I wouldn't worry overly if you haven't used this before and are concerned about cookies... it didn't delete a very high percentage of my cookies, just ones from advertising and spyware sites which i obviously didn't want anyway!

On a similar subject, does anyone know where to get hold of a free registry cleaner? I've tried a couple of free scans and I have a lot of junk to clear out of there too!

it keeps putting shortcuts on my desktop, closing my internet explorer windows and I keep seeing another curser in the bottom right corner

The icon in the bottom right of the screen is possibly just a shortcut icon, at least it is on my computer. Try running your cursor over it to see if it gives you a label.

As for the windows, it may just be the programmes opening, running, closing and then moving on to the next one. What the https://www.hitmanpro.nl site does is to run lots of programmes automatically for you so that you get a broad sweep so to speak. Hitmanpro does save onto your desktop so that you can re-run it, but will need access to the internet so that it can run the latest versions of the programmes for you (and you'll need to give permissions if you're running a firewall). Quite a neat little solution really. Do hope it's worked out okay for you.

  • the shortcuts on the screen are all the programs it runs

and its not a icon in the corner its another curser (arrow) that keeps moving, its stopped now though

seems ok the program, but all the programs it runs are programs that you can run yourself though
    and it takes ages lol

    nice post op

Glad it worked out for you. That's the whole point, it runs all the programmes for you in one fell swoop so that you don't have to.

  • DO NOT USE THIS SOFTWARE!!
The software downloads some malware that produces false positives on spyware scans, then prompts you to purchase software. This software also monitors your web browsing. This accounts for issues such as blocking IE opening and unknown icons opening. Do yourself a favour and download Ad-aware from Lavasoft (free) and run this independently, you will find the threat listed below, called Diaremover!!

    Type Misc
Type Description Miscellaneous threats include applications that do not fit into other categories or that fall into multiple categories. Miscellaneous threats typically include some form of potentially objectionable functionality that may pose privacy or security risks to users and their PCs.
    Category Rogue Security Program
Category Description A Rogue Security Program is software that purports to scan and detect malware or other problems on the computer, but which attempts to dupe or badger users into purchasing the program by presenting the user with intrusive, deceptive warnings and/or false, misleading scan results. Rogue Security Programs typically use aggressive, deceptive advertising and may be installed without adequate notice and consent, often though exploits.
    Level Elevated
Level Description Elevated threats are typically installed without adequate notice and consent, and may make unwanted changes to your system, such as reconfiguring your browser’s homepage and search settings. These threats may install advertising-related add-ons, including toolbars and search bars, or insert advertising-related components into the Winsock Layered Service Provider chain. These new add-ons and components may block or redirect your preferred network connections, and can negatively impact your computer’s performance and stability. Elevated threats may also collect, transmit, and share potentially sensitive data without adequate notice and consent.
    Advice Type Remove
Description Diaremover is a purported anti-spyware application to scan for and remove spyware from users' computers.
Add. Description Diaremover is known to be distributed through exploits that also download adware/spyware on users' computers without notice or consent. Diaremover typically shows an icon in the sytem tray that pops up with a false warning that the computer is infected with spyware. Scan results report false positives in order to frighten the user into paying for the program. Diaremover belongs to a family of similar applications including SpySheriff, Spyware No!, PestTrap, SpyDemolisher, SpyTrooper and SpywareStop.
    Author Secure Soft Inc.
Author Description "Diaremover an award-winning spyware removal utility will help you fighting all kinds of spyware and adware including keyloggers, trojan horses, password thieves and on."

Run this freebie software from Lavasoft (not from within hitmanpro) and see what you find!! I have ran this software for many years without any problems and it spots any spyware, malware tracking cookies etc.

I also run Windows Defender, it's still Beta so is available for free from Microsoft.

This does require you to validate your copy of windows though, so if you have a non-genuine version of windows, you cannot download it.

I use adaware in conjunction with Trend micro's free spyware scan. Available here http://www.trendmicro.com/spyware-scan/

    Both seem to work well.
