Well folks, handy has an admission to make. He’s an addict an having a love affair. Yes its true I am addicted to and deeply in love with MSE. She’s a Luverly Girl called Notice to New comers.
I am going to come over all soppy now. Thanks to all of you.

Those of an age will remember the old CB Radio, (Citizens band) which happened in the late 70’s early 80’s. The 2 way radio’s came from the states, and were smuggled in from Europe. They were deemed illegal by the Government, DTI and Post Office. Thousands of people Honest Law Abiding bought them. There was such a feeling of community.

You would talk all night to a total stranger, your best friend. Things would get serious, silly, happy, sad.

You would all way’s have someone listening to channel 9, the emergency channel. A breakdown, accident, lost child or dog, within minutes dozens if not hundreds of fellow CB’ers would be rushing to help.
If anyone was a nuisance, ignorant or abusive, they would be tracked down and if based at home as most were, someone would sneak up to the house and stick a drawing pin into the Ariel cable. This would short out the radio, rendering them silent for a while.

On Saturday nights Hundreds would go in their cars to motorway service stations to meet. You would find people you had only ever talked too.
During the meet 2 or 3 policemen would pay a visit and be as welcome as a fart in a space suit. They would be totally impotent as there is safety in numbers.

Some of the more enlightened Police fitted CB Radios in their cars and worked with us under assumed identities (handles - Names).

If any of this sounds familiar, then handy says he is glad to be here with you.

Those who say Britain is broken and that we have lost the community spirit are wrong. Its nice to be face to face, But if we cant then this has to be the next best thing.

    Thanks to you all, handy.

Ps my next post will be silly.

:T:T well done 3 dogs on your savings for your holiday i see your savings plan is comming together with your kennels sorted :T:T:T and your travel

Yes, with eBaying, Cashback, auctions, hubbie's car boots, and surveys we are getting there. Kennels booked with deposit paid and money set aside to pay balance when we pick them up, train booked from Newcastle to Edinburgh & back, money put aside for fuel for drive up to Mam's in Newcastle & back, Big Sis booked and paid for overnight in Travelodge in Edinburgh for Sunday night, hubbie has bought 2 dinner suits, a normal suit and 2 dress shirts at car boot for total of £14 (!!!), and I got a few tops at car boot for £6 for daytime wear but not really looked yet for 'posh frocks' for the 2 formal evenings. So it is a few clothes and then mainly our spending money still to find. Although everything is included (food, drinks, entertainment, outins, etc) we still want to have money with us for when travelling and for when we are out and about during the week. We want to get aas much as we can to take with us as whater we bring back will be paid off our debts, and, having proved that we can raise money like this, gives us hope of carrying on doing it and clearing our debts sooner.

I agree wholeheartedly Handy - community spirit is still there if you look for it, and trouble is there if you look for that - I prefer the community spirit myself

It is amazing how, on here, you can get close to people so quickly when really you know very little about them - just a gut feeling I guess, from the part of them they allow you to see

DFW forum and in particular NTN7 has lovely 'genuine' people who help each other whether it be with advice, comfort, support or 'silly stories' - of course there are the Trolls who like to stir things up and cause trouble, but they are few and far between, just like in the 'outside world' really

Be serious - be silly - be you Handy

P.S. have you had a drink tonight Handy? just kidding

Geebee, Thanks for sharing with me today,:T I too like New age and CW. I have met the late and greatly missed Johnny Cash, as well as seeing Waylon, Willy, Johnny, and Chris = the Highwaymen 3 times.
One of my fav CD’s is The Great Spirit , by Melvin Goodall. Which is based on North American Tribal Music.

I hope you like this one.:)
The Lone Ranger and Tonto are riding across the prairie in search of the bad men.
Suddenly Tonto stops his horse, jumps down and places his ear to the ground. The Lone Ranger watches on, and after a minute Tonto says “Ugh Buffalo Come”.

The Lone Ranger says “Tonto that’s extraordinary, how do you do it?” Can you hear the hoof beats through the ground?
Tonto looks up and says, no Kemo Sabay, Face Sticky.

Lets do dinner sometime, best wishes handy.

Last Post of the night, sleep well everyone. See you all tomorrow, handy.
