That you will wake up during the middle of the night with searing pains in your side (even at 10+5weeks) and feel like the whole world is ending, only to go to toilet and let out an almighty f@rt!

    Happened last night....sooooooo horrible.

By Gods YES! No one told me that would happen and I first thought I had something really wrong with me!

If you're reading this wondering the same, nothing is wrong with you, farting is just stupidly uncomfortable while pregnant Ok. If in doubt check with your midwife.
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.
(Ok, one of them is powerless, spiders can be nasty.)

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

There's some scary birth stories in this thread, but all you first time mums should know its not always that way, with my first I woke at about 5am and felt & heard this little pop!! Then remembered that mum said there was a pop when her waters broke.....so got up, nothing, walked to the loo, nothing, sat down gush!!

Also started having little twinges, called hospital who said come in as waters broken, but made a cup of tea first, when and woke OH said' don't panic but my waters broke' never seen him move so fast, ran down stairs grabbed my bag and out the door, said 'no rush I made you tea' he ran back and downed in one and was gone again!! Still makes me laugh when I think of it!!:rotfl:

Got to hospital did a trace, all was fine contracting every 2 mins but only 3cms so sent me home, got home 10mins away, contractions now every 90 seconds, lasting 90 seconds, still not really painfully but felt like huge pressure pushing down, phoned hospital because of frequency & length, they seemed to think I'd be hours told me to stay where I was. Within 10 mins contractions coming every 90seconds lasting at least 2 minutes!!

Phoned back said 'really think I need to come back' very patronising midwife said 'well you have hours to go, but if you can't cope come back we'll examine you and put you on the ward'....stuck to my guns went back, within that hour I had moved to 7cms...that midwife had to eat her words!! Hour later baby born, still didn't need any pain relief!!

Don't listen to all the scare stories, live in hope you'll be one of the lucky ones.....that's not to say I wasn't sore after!!

.........also think the easy birth was payback for the constant morning sickness the whole 9 months!!
    :hello:

Thanks Hannah and Rainey :D I agree, I think one of the worst things you can be is scared when in labour.
If anyone wants to read my birth stories they are on the "Pregnancy club birth stories thread" 2 pretty simple straight forward births, 2nd one was at home and I'm hoping to do it all one more time although I could happily do it all a few more times if we had the space and money and maybe a nanny lol! Pregnancy and birth for me were the easy bits, looking after them for the rest of your life is the hard part.
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

  • Indigestion. enough said!
  • When I was pregnant with my second child I wish that people had have told me that I had no need to worry about having a second bad experience.

I had a bad experience first time, but my second birth was wonderful. Yet I spent my whole second pregnancy in a complete tizzy with fear.

For every horror story you will hear, there is at least 3 lovely ones to counteract it. Unfortunately people like to share their horrible ones more often.

For me the biggest kept secret of pregnancy was that birth wasn't anything like being torn in half.

    Totally agree...!!

Drugs were fantastic and after a horrendous pregnancy, a 5 hour labour felt like my just reward :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Edited to say - like Hannah10 I had my DD young, I was 18..... I too got some grief re being young... All I can say to that is, its hardly a terrible thing to bring a new life into the world is it??!!

That going on my daughters 8ft trampoline after two 8lb babies in the space of a few years will quite possible lead you to wet your pants whilst bouncing and no one ever told me this till I had to get off the trampoline with wet pants lol

I was going to say PMSL at your post but that's probably not the best response, it's the same for me though. I pushed for over two hours and my little one just didn't move, now my pelvic floor is ruined. I thought it had got better but a few bounces on my sons trampoline and l've wee'd myself. You've got to laugh..... :rotfl:

I feel so silly but no-one told me babies were only allowed to go a maximum of 4 hours between feeds, my son was going every 6 hours and l thought l had given birth to the most contented perfect routined baby until he got jaundiced on his 2nd day. :(

Also, no-one really said how painful breastfeeding would be, my nipples felt like they'd been through a paper shredder :eek: and also that leaning forward when BF helped, l was straight backed but leaning forward the milk just poured out.

    Happy moneysaving all.

That a C-section isn't the worst thing in the world to happen and that it can be a really positive lovely experience.
Not to mention the fact that it leaves your pelvic floor intact!!!!!!
I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.
