Pencil or liquid eyeliner

Which do you prefer and why? I like pencil and its effect but it doesn't seem to last as long as liquid, either on the eyes or the actual product. I don't like the ones you have to sharpen though as they are a pain, I like the twist up ones.

I always used pencil, or even black eyeshadow, to get a soft effect. However, in the last month or so I've moved to liquid - it's so strong and, as you say, resistant. I do still put a little black eyeshadow over the top to soften it, because otherwise the sharp lines can be too harsh.

I have tried liquid but can never get an even line. so its always pencil for me. about 6 months ago i started to use the mineral make-up eye shadow as eyeliner with a damp brush and its great lasts all day and seems to be foolproof just what i need :rotfl: i do still use a pencil on the inside though.0

Hi does the blace eyeshadow not take away the effect of the liquid liner?0

It depends on the look you're going for and your own style.
I can't wear my normal full on eyeshadow look at work so I go for a white base and liquid black eyeliner to create a '40s style.
Today as I'm not at work I'm wearing teal eyeshadow all over my lids and have used black eyecrayon to create a messy eyeliner.
Don't be afraid to experiment. Try a look, if it doesn't come out how you expected all you have to do is wipe off the make-up and start again. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I use cream liner - Mac blacktrack is my favourite. I bought a decent brush to apply it with too, which makes it 1000x easier. I find it less harsh than liquid liner, easier to apply and it lasts literally all day. I used to always use kohl pencils but they smudged after a couple of hours and always caused an annoying imprint on my upper lid.0

My eyes look lovely with liquid or pencil black eyeliner at the top but I keep getting a double line. Used a mac primer and eyeshadow but nothing stops it so cant wear black now.0

I like both, but I find black liquid eyeliner can look a bit harsh on me as it is so intense. I use dark brown eye pencil for work (I use a Gosh or a Mac one) and I have a Rimmel liquid eyliner for nights out.0

Does anyone use real Kohl powder (the one you apply with a stick, made in India)?
Does it last longer than pencils?0 -
I prefer pencil, i use GOSH's eye pencil. I usually wait till its on offer then stock up. It works well on upper lids to and will last a night outThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I use a gel type eyeliner, applied with a thin brush. It's the only way I can get it to look half decent. From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0
