Good evening everybody ..the usual dollop of
    Love tucked in.
We have had another busy day here interspersed with some nice coffee and tapas time. It s market day here on a Friday and I think it is my favourite day.
There is a lot of evidence if the recession deepening here. A couple of restaurants/ bars gave closed down and lots of local sellers are bringing their produce into the market trying to make some money.

Baby tomatoes today.1 Euro for a kilo. Lots of other things too and I soon started making chutney this afternoon. 7 bottles of market chutney made and stashed away.

We have visitors arriving on Sunday for twelve days and our sun bed cushions were in a state!!! So I got out the sewing machine spoke to it firmly and cut a double quilt cover in half and made slip covers for them. So MSE . They were 15 euros each on the market and I refurbished them for zilch.

I am quietly knitting rectangles at the moment for another blanket similar to one I saw in the Ladybird Diaries Blog. Hers was beautiful and she called it the Neopolian blanket.

News of our youngest daughter. She is just coming to then of her summer season. Got a wonderful bonus from her employers as they are now flying back to the USA after an 80 day trip. Not bad for 86 year olds. They are berthing the boat in Barcelona for the winter and they are keeping all the crew on, paid until next season

Our son, daughter in law and the edible willam are getting on well and move into an apartment early next week. Our son is 34 on Sunday and it seems very strange to think of him so far away and there was no way I could get post to him.will have to have a long Skype but he is actually at work on Sunday.

Well enough of my ramblings. Thanks for lovely comments about my blog and blanket.
Kathy I gave used your lovely shaped jam are today ... Brilliant. Keep writing you clever lady !

Hi everyone from a cool damp corner of France! Hope everyone is keeping well and stress free.

Chalky - not clever, just a sucker for punishment I think! Still, the chap I am doing the work for liked the first article I submitted; I always hate submitting the first one of a batch, in case they don't like it! People like different writing 'styles' and the publishing guidelines vary, too, so you have to hope you get it right first time to save any re-writing. I am currently writing for a US-based Israeli chap, so I have to aim for the US reader; like I say, it's a challenge! Sounds like you've been busy in a more 'hands-on' way that I have! I will get a bit creative in the kitchen today; I have a load of onions so will be making soup in the slow cooker. Also, I googled for a recipe for a sauce to go with the fish I cooked the other day; the sauce was delicious. We had some left over which I mixed with a bit of balsamic vinegar (I love that stuff for its versatility!) to turn it into a sort of relish, and it worked really well, so I am going to make up a big batch. It's difficult to get relishes and chutneys here, and any that are imported from the UK are really expensive. You must be relieved that your little family in Dubai will have their own home soon. You're bound to miss your son on his birthday. I so wanted to be with my eldest last week on his birthday, which he shares with me. My other son's wife's brother and his wife (!!) had their second child on the same day, so it's a birthday that the family just can't ever forget!

Well, it rained ALL DAY yesterday and it really brought the temperature down; I even had to wear my boots and a jacket when I went out, and I didn't expect to have to do that until at least half way through October!

I am hoping to free up some time with the sewing machine and the woolly stuff next week, in between writing and supplying DH with continuous cups of teas while he does some finishing-off jobs in the house.

Hope you all have a good day, despite the rotten weather forecast!

I have some wonderful news. Ds came home from holiday in Las Vegas yesterday and announced that he and his girly got married in the Little White Chapel last week. I am so pleased for them, fab idea and no stress or cost of a big wedding. I had a chat with her before they went and made sure she knew in a roundabout way that I would be fine with it - I had a feeling they might do it. Funnily enough when they came in and told us DGs jumped around cheering :D he understands so much. Everyone is pleased for them but her Mum is a little sad as its her only girl but seems to be taking it well. We will be having a small family party and a blessing next year mainly for the Grannies. I think OH was relieved as a big 'do' would be beyond him but also if they have a boy eventually it will carry on his family name which otherwise would have died out - very small family! So its a win win situation as they say. xx

Ginnyknit - that's wonderful news; congratulations to them both! Her Mum will soon be looking forward to the blessing next year, and her disappointment at not having a big wedding for her daughter will not be so significant. The most important thing, after all, is that they are happy, and this is what they both chose to do. It sounds really exciting, too!

I wonder if one of you lovely ladies could help me please, I'm needing a pattern for premmie baby hats, the beanie style. I mainly have double knitting baby wool. There are so many different patterns and sizes I wondered which is the most popular please.

    Thank you x
