Hi everyone.
Shaz - Gums heal really quickly, so I'm sure you will start healing in time to enjoy Christmas dinner! You might not be able to crack nuts or eat toffee, but I'm sure you can live without all that!
Chalky - have a good gardening day. Here, we're thinking about building ourselves an ark!
Well, BIL is doing really well, eating and sleeping a lot, both of which will help him to get strong enough for the chemo. They hope to hear soon when it's expected to start but, meanwhile, he is enjoying being back at home.
I've had a lot of online work suddenly presented to me, so today I have to rush out to the shops to get a few bits and pieces, then I'll be deskbound for a few hours.
I hope you are all coping with the weather. Scotland, in particular, looks to be in a really bad way with all the snow, so I hope all our Scots lasses on here are keeping warm and safe, and that it starts to get better for you soon.
Lots of (((hugs))) for all you lovely ladies.

Shaz think I prefer to put the pounds on over the season than your visit to the dentist....good luck with that one. Sunny and cold here but I am trying to catch up with all the washing - tons of it, no doubt when I go and bring it all in off the rope it will be frozen solid! Have promised myself that I WILL do some serious cleaning of the house before the end of the week and DH's return, I have been living like a slattern! Got a wee bit more sewing to do as a christmas pressie so will get that out of the way first! You all take great care in that rotten weather you are having, keep warm and safe,
Jean

HI everyone. Hope you are all well and coping with the bad weather? We still have torrential rain - I don't know where it's coming from but it just doesn't want to stop. I know it's not as difficult and disruptive as snow and ice, so I'm not complaining.
BIL is doing really well, and my sister has said that he is up to having visitors now that he has had a chance to rest up. They tried to Skype us last night but I missed it, so hopefully we'll have more luck today.
Some kind person has posted this link on the 'Crochet anyone? thread; there are some really lovely patterns on it. http://tendresse-66.forumactif.com/modeles-f30/modeles-d-avril-2009-t112.htm Yet more to add to the to-do list (says she who just isn't finding any spare time at all at the moment).
Have a good day, all of you.

In the midst of cleaning the place from top to bottom, don't want Dh returning and thinking I have been sitting doing nothing!
Pippa I got the idea from a link that Fifi & helpers put on the Loving Hands forum with a tutorial for a dolls house in fabric as well as her barn
http://uklassinus.blogspot.com/
but as I didn't have any little girlies, I sat for a week drawing the walls inside and out with things for a wee boy - so it ended up a petrol station. It wasn't particularly difficult -more a case of time and making my mind up just what I wanted to achieve. I also made it a lot bigger - I used a sheet of printer paper as the template for the walls and just worked on that being the size. I couldn't source the plastic canvas stuff here either, so it was stiffened with hardboard cut to size.....I just didn't want to wait on things arriving from the internet and wanted to just get on and get it.
Bit cold and windy here but dry today so I am staying indoors and catching up with the housework YUK. Hope you all keep warm and safe indoors doing crafty things.

Can someone point the way to what this thread is about? I read the first page and still none the wiser?0

Hi everyone.
Jean, that's a lovely blog. I'm really impressed by how determined you were to make something for a little boy having seen that lovely dolls house. YOur petrol station is really gorgeous. By the way, it hasn't stopped raining here for the last three days, and we're getting really sick of it, especially as it makes everything so dark and gloomy that we have to keep the lights on all the time. We're hoping for sun from tomorrow onwards; at least, that's what they've forecast.
I've had a very sad talk with my sister. Despite the positive-sounding posts she's been putting on FB (for the benefit of the rest of the family), she sent me the saddest email saying that my BIL is going downhill fast, and she's beside herself with worry. Now that he's been home for a couple of days, she can see how ill he really is, and the physical changes in him. She says he's just skin and bone, can hardly eat, can't even face tea or coffee, and this is a man who has a really healthy appetite and loves his food. I have talked to her on the phone but it's so hard not being there with her. I can feel the desperation in her voice and can read it in her emails, and it breaks my heart. The stent the doctors put in doesn't seem to be doing its job, and the itchy skin is driving him to distraction, the only relief he gets is when he's in the bath, and he lays there for ages topping the water up. The jaundice seems as bad as ever. She's taking him back to the doctors for a blood test and, on Friday, they will look at the stent and maybe move it, or put in an additional one. They may even see if they can do the biopsy - I think he and my sister really need to know for sure what's going on. At the moment, although she hasn't said it to him, she thinks he won't even make it to Christmas. All the agencies have been very good. They can see his consultant whenever they want; the MacMillan nurses have been great, and people from the local hospice have called on them, so they are getting help but not the miracle they want.
I'm so sorry to be offloading on here but I really don't know what else to do. It helps to be able to write it down, and I know you'll all understand. Life is so bloody unfair sometimes, isn't it?

Hi folks, been in lurking mode again lately but had to pop in to say
(((((BIG HUGS))))) for you Kathy and your family.
You are soooooo right - it is bl00dy unfair that this sort of thing happens to the good people in this world and all the bad bu**ers get an easy passage.
Must be very hard for you being so far from your sister and wanting so much to give her the hugs and support that they both need at this worrying time. My heart goes out to all of you.
Chalky - love the cuddlies snuggled up in your bag.
Jean - garage is a masterpiece.
Still bl00dy awful weather here and more due by the weekend, lasting till Christmas and beyond if the forecasters are to be believed.Wish it would rain here but it`s so cold it turns to the white stuff instead. Can`t remember it being this bad so early in winter, for so long.
Been struck by a tummy bug here as well just to make matters worse. times like these I wish we had two loos
Best wishes to all MIA`s and lurkers, hope you are keeping warm and safe and busy with the woolly stuff.
