Hi all, sorry been absent lately. Been a bit up and down here this past week.
Up, because I took the plunge and ordered a pack of yarn to do Attic24's granny stripe blanket. Lovely colours and nice to work with.
Very down though. You might have seen Chalky mentioning one of my dogs. We sadly had to say goodbye to her and send her over the rainbow bridge. She'd been a bit under the weather, off her food and all of a sudden she seemed very fat looking, bloated. Phoned the vet and got an emergency appointment. She had a scan and the vet reckoned she'd had a tumour in her stomach which had burst and was bleeding internally. She said she could operate but the tumour would probably come back and be more aggressive, and also our poor girl might not survive the op as she had lost a lot of blood and was in shock.
DS was with me so we decided not to put her through all that and said goodbye to her. DD and little J were at home, and he couldn't understand why she didn't come home at first. However he went into nursery next morning and put up his hand to tell the teachers he had 'news'. Told them our dog had died and gone to doggy heaven. Bit of a shocking talking point it seems. Teachers weren't sure if he was serious or not, just as well his mum was there to confirm it.
Anyway, our other dog has been wandering about like a lost soul this week. They were sisters from the same litter and never been apart.
Sorry I've rambled on and totally off topic.
Back another day.xFully paid up member of S.A.B.L.E.

nursemaggie thank you so much for the beautiful squares which arrived safely today. They are perfect.
talking of squares and Sam's blanket. I have just spent some really special time making a start on assembling the blanket for Sam. As I was working it struck me how fortunate I am to belong to such a warm, generous, kind group. Most of us have never met and yet there was a real feeling of camaraderie as I was sewing the squares together. In this world of ours where atrocities of every kind seem almost commonplace the love worked in every square is so tangible. I feel very proud and privileged to belong. And whether we have met of not we truly are friends in the real sense of the word.Try and do a good deed every day.0 -

Thank you so much jean I am really enjoying the start if this wonderful joint venture. Sam's blanket is going to be really special I am sure. Please don't worry about how long it takes you to send on the squares. I think a teenage lad will need quite a big one. We are off to see William on the 1 st of April for 3 weeks and I will not even consider working the border until after our return. So there is plenty of time for everyone.Try and do a good deed every day.0
