Are those packers you used to level and support it still underneath the joists? Perhaps should of used plastic, slate or something that wont rot if water gathers underneath. Apart from that it looks the dogs, well done.

Yeah, I used bricks, broken up breeze blocks and pieces of feather edged fence panels that I pushed together to get the level and then nailed them together.

The garden slopes about 2ft down to the back with the decking being at the high end. There could be the chance of surface water but it's generally ok. I guess time will tell.

Thanks Mr. Canuck, nice to see you again! I'll be starting to make the foundations for my barn over the next few weekends but then we'll have to see how our finances are to get the timber. We went to visit my sister in California at Easter (and got stranded for a week!) so money is a bit tight!

Hi...my OH is the Mr. in the family.;) Our flight from Toronto was the last one in from Canada before UK airspace was closed. Several staff from my school were stranded in all parts...made for an interesting start to the summer term.

Oooppss sorry, yes I remember your hubby was giving us advice on our new wetroom, he's a plumber if I remember right.

Just me and one TA got stranded and we have been told we have to make the time up, so I've been helping out in the holiday club! you were lucky not to get stranded too.

No but most of the area outside the patio door and down the side is actually concrete. Where it is over the soil area, I put weedkiller down and weed retention sheet and used breeze blocks or bricks under the deck bearers.

I guess we'll see if I did a good job by how many years it lasts!

To be honest he was at work most of the time. I really only needed my hubby's help to fix the panels to the deck posts.

We love sitting out there for breakfast and we've had those doors open every day while the warm weather was here.

It is going to depend on the weather, weight distribution & soil.

    It looks good.

    Well done.
