At a mini round about, the car in front braked late-ish to give way... i had enough time to stop but the car behind me was far too close and crashed into the back of me.

This is absolutely terrible. Admiral are closed. I'm worried about whether I will have any liability?

I took pictures on my phone. No witnesses i'm afraid.

if they hit the back of your car its not your fault , they did not give themselves enough room to stop

don't worry if theres no witnesses

    1) damage is to the back of your car and the front of theirs (how can anyone argue its your fault )

    2) you have pictures

def agree, you've done everything right, I would report it to the police, more just to cover everything, but when someone goes into the back of you their insurance will admot liability, are you ok, x

I'm a little concerned about my £650 excess.

How might this effect my premium?

the excess is claimed back from the other party , if memory serves me right you may need to pay that up front but you get it back at the end

got the feeling some insurers discount "not to blame" accidents

Admiral will talk you through it and answer all your questions in the morning , dot worry

Well i just called the police. They took both registration plates for the call log, but said that I didnt need to call as no injuries, details were exchanged and no one failed to stop.

Its not your fault. The car behind should have been able to stop in time. They are liable for your damages.

how can you all type so fast?. This has happened to me three times.NCB unaffected.Relax and let the insurance companies sort it out.The excess only applies if you make a claim on your own insurance

I did check my mirror before, after and during braking. He was so close I could see his face clearly... The drives face was such a picture when he realised he couldnt stop in time. Scary, but quite amusing all the same.
