It always makes laugh when the sellers say "kills 99.9% of germs. Doesn't this this mean that we should be frightened of the 0.1% of germs that are indestructible. :)

O thank god somebody else noticed this. I was raving mad at the advert and my (very fussy hygenic perfect) virgo OH said it just goes to show that I'm filthy . LOL!

I'm so relieved others feel the same way. I laughed out loud when I saw the advert - what utter rubbish - feeding the concerns of parents regarding germs & infections. It's about time adverts started promoting children playing in the garden & eating dirt to build up their immune systems. I love the logic mentioned earlier about the clean hands having to touch the dirty tap to turn it off - relevant in an operating theatre, but at home - give me strength!!

Thank you everyone - so pleased its isn't just unhygienic old me that thinks the obsession with 'germs' is a bit strange.. but what a nice money spinner if they can convince you that you 'need' this to keep healthy!

Clean enough to be healthy but dirty enough to be happy :)

I like that quote - pretty much sums me up too.
I'm sure the reason that my son had virtually no time off school is because of my "relaxed" approach to hygiene!!!

ps - I do know how to practice effective infection control where necessary (am a nurse), but homes are not hospitals & don't need to be treated as such.

The research as well is that the increase in autoimmune diseases is because of things like this and the too clean environments. It's a shame as autoimmune diseases are awful and I wouldn't wish one on anyone!

It's not the dirty soap pump you need to watch out for in our house... it's the flea bag who insists on 'tagging' everything and his dirty paws and that's just my OH... nevermind the cat who puts his little bottom on every surface going (except the kitchen).

I wonder if they do no touch walk through showers for cats?

OP- glad you mentioned it, as designers the product really annoyed our household! Design for designs sake... pretty product though yes?

  • !!!!!!! - were exactly my words when I saw the advert last night with OH. He said, 'just think what could be achieved if marketing were used for the good instead of this waste of time.'

Really though, I ask you. Nothing to add to what has already been said. We even echoed what a previous poster said her little girl picked up on - but aren't you about to wash your hands anyway.... jeez.

OK, disability aside (I'm not being dismissive). Normal price, a tenner in Tesco and presumably it runs on batteries.

Re the 0.1% of indestructible germs - don't they live in places like the bottom of volcanoes. Mental note about next years holiday...

I've got the OH pretty well trained but I'm with you re the bl00dy cat. Wees in the litter tray, dabs her bottom everywhere else to make sure its dry. Constitutionally we are oxen, but even we won't eat anything that's dropped on the dining room floor (that's where the litter tray is but we do take it out when we have guests - and wash the floor).

Another thing I find funny is "antibacterial handwash". All soap is antibacterial, that's the whole point! Totally agree about the benefits of basics soap charlie's aunt :D
