Wow Mark, this is hard work sometimes. I took a credit agreement out with Comet acting as a broker. They obviously got paid commission. The agreement was that if you paid the payment at the 12 month stage, you were not charged any interest. Is this clear so far?

I paid within 12 months and the 'associate company' denied receiving the cheque. Interest was back dated for 12 months and I could not pay it in full, without a huge redemption figure. Within days of realising that the cheque had 'gone astray' I contacted the credit company and they said that the time had now past. I then contacted Comet to ask if they could intervene, and they were not interested at all.

    Hi,

Question - do you have proof that the cheque arrived? did you send it recorded delivery - if not what did you expect Comet to do? If even they interfered, it the 3rd party finance company word against yours?

    Mark

    Mark

Sadly Mark you are missing the point again. I am talking about customer services here - not having to prove myself. I don't record all letters I send to people.I sent my cheque in good faith. Did I arrive? I honestly don't know. Did I get stung for a years back interest and 4 years future interest? Yes. Did I feel aggrieved? Yes.

That is all there is to do with it.

I bought an item 3 months ago from Amazon (like I buy lots from them). It didn't arrive. No messing about, I had a refund within 48 hours. Great customer services, and lots of future business from me.

I learnt something a long time ago. It takes a lot more money to 'gain a customer'(advertising) than it does to 'keep a customer' (customer relations).

At this point, at the risk of going around in circles, I jog out of the debate!!

No I didn't take the credit out with GE capital or Santander. Please get your facts right before making stupid comments.

I took the finance out with Comet, who in turn brokered the loan with a 3rd party. I sent the payment off to the 3rd party in good time. The cheque was lost and this was realised within a fortnight. If Comet had wished they could have intervened but didn't want to know. The customer service was non existent.

Now be a big boy and go and play with one of your other Pro Comet threads!!
in another comment you state comet would have got paid commisson for this, get YOUR facts right this is a sales tool for comet as it is for every other company like currys and DFS that does interest free or buy now pay later, It would comet who pays commission to the finance company similar to the amount they would pay to a finance company or to the post office or securicor to collect cash. i dont understand how comet could have intervened? Think how many times a day both they and the finance company must hear 'oh i sent you a cheque'. And once again mr big mouth you did no take the finance out with Comet! if you can please find something online that shows that Comet are legally allowed to lend money ill happily say sorry. By the way i work for trading standards and have to listen to misinformed people like you all day long

You work for Trading Standards :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Is this in a cleaning capacity or do you make the butties? (A retaliation for the cheap shot of calling me a big mouth).

I said all along that Comet acted as a Broker? Please read carefully. Surely that is the first thing they tell you in 'Trading Standards School of Excellence'.

As for Comet paying them for the service (or them receiving payment in return). This is a commercial agreement between them both. I know companies who get paid for introducing finance - including car companies on a similar 0% deal. Neither me or you can know exactly what this commercial agreement actually is.

And is this an example of how you respond to them?...
