Let it be a lesson learnt. You probably now know not to agree to fix everything the mot garage say.

I use an MOT only place that charges £45. My 12 years old fiesta passed with some advisory on corrosion. I dont intend to repair this as I only plan to keep the car for another year.

It's lasted 15 years so far, so maybe not as bad as everyone seems to think. I wonder if any Kias will last that long.
Well I run 2 Kia's and I don't really have any worries for at least 7 years !!!

15 years in the hand is better than 7 years in the bush.

I don't think he did agree to fix "everything the garage said", just the failure points, not the advisories, that would have been much more.

A years running for said amount is the least the op can expect from a car of that age, (especially as it is a ROVER)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

A good deal of advisories can be self-repaired especially on older cars where you can actually work around the engine.

I only got the things it failed on fixed. I've not had any of the advisory items fixed, apart from removing a nail from a tyre which cost me a tenner at a local place I know. I'm hoping not to spend much more over the next year. Fingers crossed! I don't use the car much as I cycle to work. Mainly just for the weekly shop.
spend a fiver on a can of schutz or waxoyl and the corrosion shouldn't be a problem for the year anyway.
Thanks - I'll look into that.
...assuming the head doesnt go before then
I did hear that about Rovers but it was for another model. Don't know which.

:rotfl:Not had any big problems with the car in the 5 years I've owned it. Till now anyway.

Better to look a " tit " in a Kia than a Rover.:)

That puts it into perspective! Thanks guys.

I was planning to scrap it next year anyway as the cambelt will need replacing, so I'll hang fire.
Why not just wait until the belt actually goes (or the head gasket for that matter)? If you're only going to scrap it it won't really affect the scrap value. As long as you can live with the possibility of it just breaking one day in a year's time...

A tit is a tit, however much you dress it up, :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:, but most do seem to drive rovers.
