With Valentines day approaching, this is a really good post:

in particular, the post from Lillibet regarding the 'promises jar'. Not only is it virtually cost-free, but a really good romantic idea. Top marks from me :-)
  • Hi Andrea
Please could I nominate Hintza and Evil Monkey for a share of the £50.00 for the most helpful thread.

I asked for some advice on buying a digital camera and they both went out of their way to help me, especially Hintza who spent a lot of his own time researching camera's on my behalf. I know this site is devoted to saving money - but these fine men went out of their way to make sure I got the best camera for me, taking into account how much I had to spend and what I wanted it for and didn't mind how many questions I asked.

Nett result - I have a cracking camera, I'm absolultely thrilled to bits with it and would like to recognise and reward their good humour and helpfulness. They showed a true spirit of what this site can achieve.

The following is a link to the forum entry - I thought it had got lost in the site change - but found it again.

Many thanks and I hope you consider Hintza and Evil Monkey for the reward

    Hi all.
What fickle creatures we humans are.
Last month everyone wanted the £50.00 to go to charity.
    This month no such mention.
There are still people dying every second from hunger, poverty, abuse, etc etc yet it takes a major tragedy to make people sit up.
Why is it that when many die in one go they are deemed more important than an individual??
I'm not slating anyone, i'm guilty as charged, just an observation I have noticed for many years.
