OMG! I didn't realise this thread had caused such a stir until I met Brian 90 minutes ago and he told me that he had found this thread!
I'm glad the records been set straight. Brian bought lots of pictures with him, which we both thought were fab, explained everything that will happen on the day (and beforehand!) and I have to say that both myself and H2B are more than happy with everything. We've arranged a date for a pre-wedding shoot, to allow us all to get used to each other and being in front of the camera! Just in case anyone is wondering, we didn't get the hard sell where prints are concerned, in fact quite the opposite, he said he would be happy to do them if that's what we both wanted but that it was our decision entirely.
Overall we're 150% happy with everything we've seen/heard so far and I'll gladly keep you updated! (I'll even upload some of our pics when we get them!)
It was all going well until that!
You cannot be more than 100%!!!
Sorry just a wee rant, hope the pics are great:)0 -

Sounds like you have got a real result here.
It would be really great to see your pics.
Hope you have a wonderful day and that the sun shines for you!0 -
As someone who is also an amateur photographer I can relate to what Brian is talking about.
I am currently trying to make the transition from amatuer to professional and it is a difficult business to get into hence why people offer their services at reduced rates to try and get them off the ground.
This doesn't mean their pictures are going to be rubbish and without meeting and seeing examples it is easy to make assumptions about their abilities. I have seen people who have paid large amounts for their wedding photos and videos and have still been sorely disapointed with the end results. One day Rodney we'll be millionaires£2020 in 2020 - Running Total £170 -
An update!
We have received our wedding pictures tonight and and are both (myself and hubs) very impressed! The pictures are exactly what we wanted, a mixture of posed shots and more natural poses, with some in colour and some black and white. We're very pleased with them!
From start to finish we had; a meeting with Brian to look at some of his work and make sure we were happy. Next was the pre-wedding shoot, the Sunday before the wedding. We went to a park near to where we live and had about a dozen shots taken - to get us used to being in front of the camera. Definitely helped us to feel more relaxed on the day! Following this Brian came round to show us the pictures and gave them to us on a disc (something he hadn't originally said he would do). Then he came back later on that week to take pics of our wedding rings which we had requested. He contacted us before the wedding to let us know he had been to the registry office to ask where/when he was allowed to take photos and run us through what he would do on the day.
Then the day of the wedding - he was there from 230pm taking photos of our guests as they arrived. Wedding was at 330pm and then after the usual shots of friends/family (and some not so usual shots - I will post pics once I have the disc) he took us to another park (just me and hubs) to take some shots of us in a different setting, which was lovely. He then came back to us today to show us the photos, and will be in contact shortly as we have asked him for some prints as his prices are very reasonable.
As soon as I have the pictures on a disc (which should be pretty soon!) I will come back again to upload some

Congratualtions!
I was really interested reading this as i too am using a photographer who is branching out from studio work to wedding photography and doesnt have too much to show at the moment, so is doing cheaper packages to build up the portfolio.
We're paying £900 for full day coverage (preps to first dance) but that includes a large graphistudio album, 4 parent albums, two large framed prints and a canvas. Well under half the cost quoted by more established photographers we've made enquiries with.:jProud mummy to a beautiful baby girl born 22/12/11 :j0 -
Claire I'm really pleased your pics have turned out great.
Brian is also doing our wedding pics, I managed to book him just in time :j
He was up front with us about why his costs were so low from the start and I'm looking forward to my wedding in 62 days time.0 -
I'm now going to try and upload some of our pictures, bear with me because I don't really know what the heck I'm doing
