Whereabouts are you? What about the chocolate making or c0cktail making workshops?
I'm down south, hampshire if thats any help. Nothing is really jumping out at me, she's not a people person really and a workshop would be a bit too mingly for her lol
She said don't get her anything silly like a hot air balloon but that makes me wonder if thats code for do!
Photo idea is fab but really they have only been married for a short time so i wouldn't have much to use.
I'm still very much open to suggestions but i'm wondering if it was your birthday would you prefer if for example a meal out was paid for would a mum prefer a paid for meal out with her DH or a paid for meal with all the family grand kinds included? How would you give that as a gift?0 -
Well it would be her life, not their marriage.
So photos of you and any siblings as kids, any momentous events in her life

Would she enjoy a concert for one of her favourite groups? I'm getting to be that age and have recently discovered I love concerts of my favourite bands, (maybe my missed teens?) Or failing that tickets to a show/play etc? Locally or in London?
Otherwise I'd appreciate the family photos and/or quality time with my family.Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
Boyzone are touring in March next year you could get tickets for her. Or what about cream tea for 2 in a nice location - Buyagift have some offers. For my mums 60th I bought her a trip to Monkeyworld in Somerset and a subscription to adopt one of the monkeys for the year and hotel for the night as we dont live near there.SPC 2011 #758 - no target just a surprise #20 - £365 in 365 days 4/365 Olympic chal #46 - debt free by July 2012 £6739/£189390

Ohh Boyzone tickets (2 - one for her and one for a [strike]horribly unlucky[/strike] guest of her choosing)!
Excellent plan. And you could wrap them in a series of boxes getting smaller and smaller so it looks a bigger gift IYSWIM?
Or a meal with the family could be a surprise thing? Maybe suggest you and she go somewhere one evening (a dressyish event if you're all the dressy-up sort, so she's not in her scruffs and everyone else in their party clothes) then pick her up, stop off "just need to use the ATM, they have one in this restaurant" and there's the family?Organised Birthdays and Christmas: Spend So Far: £193.75; Saved from RRP £963.76

Oh great ideas i am tempted by the boyzone tickets but i really don't want to be lumbered with having to go too  As she doesn't drive this would be highly likely!
So my list is now, tickets to boyzone, a buyagift meal for mum&sdad or family meal surprise. hmmm decisions decisions

some sort of activity might be the answer. maybe skydiving or bungee or something exhilarating that she will remember?0

Go on, tickets and you go with her, so she gets quality time......it's only one day !!
That's what I'd want.......except not boyzone !!
(Or will your Dad go with her ...on the train ?? if you get the train tickets too?)Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -
I suppose i could take ear plugs lol as the concert isn't until feb i've got plenty of time to encourage someone else to go with her lol
However i do wonder if i should just get her something mad/thrill day.
why is it so hard to decide, be better if she dropped some hints about what she wants to do, i may nag a bit see what i can get out of her.0 -
Oh blimey! this brings back memories!
I will be 50 on my next birthday but it seems like no time since it was my Mums 50th!
I could cringe now, OH and I treated her to a geriatric Sunday lunch and a pair of pearl earrings.
We just thought she was really old lol!
Well, she was a Granny (not that I am so lucky!) Glad to say, nearly 25 yrs later, she is still going strong.
but looking back I wish we had realised she was still a relatively young woman.
We treated her with kidd gloves!
So O.P.I would say, just go out and have a blast with your Mum, nothing too sedate or serious! Theres still plenty of life in her yet!Norn Iron Club member 4730
