and yes your phone cards were wasted.. unless you use them on other calls..

thanks for that info, the phonecards are used up im afraid.

so the phone cards are only any use if i were calling a 'greek' mobile in greece? Then the person at the other end would get no charges?

so as well as me wasting money on phone cards my girlfriend is going to be billed for me calling her using the phonecards.

Yes correct. When someone is roaming they pay to receive calls it does not matter where the call comes from e.g. if someone in Greece phoned your gf they would pay for an international call because they would be calling a UK number and she would pay to receive the call even though they are both in the same country. When you call her you are still calling a UK number so it won't make any difference to you..only if you have to pay her bill!
  • so we can look forward to a bill of 500-700 just depending on how long we did spend talking to each other. ooer

i might have to pay something towards this.

i just wonder if o2 will cut the bill if she pleads ignorance and refuses to pay the full amount?

she does not have much money to spare and this will really shock her.

thanks to all for the help

Mystic_B.. my colleagues bill was a company record.. he was spending a fair few hours on the phone each day.. it was also long before the recent call cost cutting.. I'm sure your G/f bill will not be that hight..

We recently spent a week in Greece.. and received a numbe of calls.. no more than an 30-40 mins in total.. and I did not even notice them on the bill..

I am sure a gick check on your operators webstite will tell you the cost per min of the call received on yout G/f mobile. you can then estimate the cost from there..
The only place where success comes before work is the dictionary…

It's 28p/min if your gf's tariff has ITS, otherwise 94p/min to receive calls in Europe.

ITS is free if the O2 line rental is £30 or more (although O2 recently seem to have increased this to £35 on their new tariffs).

I doubt if O2 will not bill for these calls:(
  • thanks for that, i already checked the o2 site and as you say its 95p per minute to recieve calls as she aint on the its, wish we had known about this in advance.

weird thing is its cheaper to make a call 85p than it is to recieve a call 95p

work that out another great rip off me thinks

You dont have to be on the ITS service to get cheaper calls. You can get your calls down to 35p a minute recieving and sending if your in certain European Destinations including Greece.See
