This thread used to be the "Over 60s". because that was when most of the deals and offers kicked in. This was because the female state pension age was 60 and you are not allowed to discriminate on grounds of sex.
It was then changed, by democratic vote, to "Over 50s" presumably because voters thought that there would be miore offers applicable to the 50 - 60 year olds, of course it wasn't so.
By all means go ahead and try and get your "new" board launched, there'll be very little to report on and it will get filled up with stuff that should be in the Arms just like this one.
What should happen is that all those with offers to make, including, bus passes, should link the age to the female, and later, just the, state pension age and this board should follow suit. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -
Moral dilemma. Where I get my haircut ,at a local indoor market unit, it's £3.80 or £3.00 for OAPs. When the lass asks me for £3.00 at the end of my haircut do I tell her I'm only 58 and pay the extra 80p but leave with a bruised ego or think 'oh well my ego is bruised but at least I've saved 80p' ???0

Fraud is a serious criminal offence.
I would remind you that the price list is not an offer but an invitation to you to offer.
If I were you I would ask her about rejuvenation techniques. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -

Why not procrastinate on thia dilemma for two years and the issue will miraculously solve itself?:rotfl: At either price, that's a pretty good bargain compared with prices round here!0 -
my barber charges me £3 but offers to return all my hair if im not happy
was in cambridge last month and average barbers charge in most of them and theres more of them than we have charity shops in my town is £15 so you would need a good discount
isnt £15 more than the state pension these days?0 -

£15 is more than the hourly (based on a normal working week) rate for the state pension but if you don't know how much that is perhaps yiou shouldn't be here. The only thing that is constant is change.0 -
Yet again more false statements in the MSE newsletter dated 8 June 2016.
Headline clearly states "20 nifty over-50s MoneySaving tips" but at least 8 of the 20 are for over 60's , 63's, 75's, 87's so definitely not 20 tips for those between 50 and 60. Indeed it is only 20 tips for the over 87's !
As all statements on UK websites are all governed by the advertising regulations then MSE are clearly flouting the regulations.

I was told on good authority (my mum!!) that if you ask for a discount related to your "old age", you are not legally obliged to provide it. Anyone else heard this??0

The haidresser who cuts my hair automatically gives me the pensioner rate. I suppose one look at me says it all. Doesn't do much for one's morale to be categorised as such but at least it saves me money. Have to look on the bright side!0
