Tom - bit off topic I know but I've been trying to remember which show your sign-off comment came from. "That's me that is". I think it was Rob Newman, but I can't think who was with him - very funny comedy sketch show

Wow you are so lucky,6 months ,
Well as I pointed out I got 12 months out of them, and without paying a handling charge :)
and overdrafts mean debt ,so you are going to pay them money,
I've not actually used it yet - it was a 'last resort' in case I needed it. I'll be reducing it again when I'm sure I won't need it.

As long as you are savy and aren't taken in by the spiel then there are definite benefits.
For example if you are an A&L Premier customer you can be paid £25 for just turning up!!

Whenever I am invited to a financial review I point out that my cousin is an accountant and very helpful.

They always drop the subject! For all I know, I actually DO have a cousin who is an accountant.lol;)

My bank have just very helpfully offered to deal with obtaining probate for my father's will.

When I found out they planned to charge over £1000!!!! and they told me I could do it myself for £120 - guess what I decided?

They even got that snippet of info wrong as since 2005 probate fees have gone down from £120 to £90!

It wasn't so long ago that you could approach your bank manager and expect to receive sound impartial advice.

I do not think that there ever was such a time.

Yeah of course, when people come for a financial review, I try and sell them Lloyds stuff, but only if it's worth their while.

Do you think some Account Managers (not necessarily Lloyds) would try to sell people products which weren't ideal for them, to earn commission or please their bosses?
