to be honest what is the point. i would not buy a product off them on the day without checking here to see if i could get it cheaper. first. and i have all my bases covered at the best prices anyway.

Exactly! I never buy anything these days without checking the net first to a) make sure I am getting the right item with the right features for what I need and b) that I am getting the cheapest price for what I want.

Its like people who come around knocking on my door offering to replace my wooden double glazed windows. HELLO?!?! For all they know I could prefer wooden frames, but besides that, if I want plastic frames I would find the cheapest price myself without the help of some spotty 15 year old with a black eye at my door!! (and it wasn't me that gave him the black eye!!!)

  • Well I know this has little to do with original Thread. But I agree with I also never buy anything without checking I'm getting the best deal. I have just swiched My joint current account from the Woolwich to The Aliance and Leicester as it has a better deal for me. I put my car Insurance with my house insurance as the combined saving was over a £150 a year.

All because of this site and other site like this.

Banks are a royal pain in the bum and all want to be sale person of the month. They just prey on people who look like they would go for a deal.

  • To be fair, the accounts mentioned in the financial review are put in front of you and people aren't made to to do anything they don't want to. Sometimes people go for the Platinum account just because they like the nice flashy silver card!

RBS offered a £100 if they could not save you money after a financial review,I got the £100,but it took a lot of effort to get my money ,they did not want to pay up,their marketing department had based it on the compliant
    majority.

  • I'll own up - I'm an Account Manager at LTSB. So go on, vent your anger at me!!!

  • I tend to annoy these folks by sitting through all their blurb and then answering back to all their offers with the offers I currently have.

The last classic was trying to get me to merge my 3.9% LOB and 5.5% LOB into a 7.9% loan

Lucky I am an MSEr, or I could be well out of pocket.

I'm sure you are a very nice account manager and i hope they treat you better than they treat their long standing customers of 20 years.

When I read your post about the platinum card,I had a feeling ,but at least you have come clean ,unlike some who post, believe me you can be helped, every day you must spend 15 mins on the Want to be free from debt forum, some of DFWs been subjected to financial reviews.I am going to give you your first thanks, for being so honest, and I hope your honesty is transmitted to your employer

wouldn,t be LLOYDS TSB would it by any chance ??? sounds very familiar lol

they love doing this. i.e give you red carpet treatment for five mins to lure you in then try and sell you anything they can.

on my last vist they tried home+contents insurance, mortgage, hospital cover, life cover, private health cover, , a loan and paypemt protection insurance if i should lose my job ect. errr no thanks to all of the above .

i have the Platinium Account. which to be fair if you use ALL of the stuff that comes with it to the FULL isn,t a bad deal. however i was going to cancel it and move it to first direct with my joint current account and wifes current account. however the £10 account charge rumour has left me in limbo about my options.

my advice if your bank is being nice to you it,s cause they are rubbing thier hands at selling you something with a juicy commission for the staff member thats sells. they don,t have your best intrests at heart they have sales targets to meet.

It sounded like Natwest Advantage Blue, that is a new account and nearly the same, they probably nicked the idea off Lloyds TSB.

I always go to a banks financial reviews and never ever buy anything, even if I did want it I would go back and get it later.
If you don't like what I say slap me around with a large trout and PM me to tell me why.
